LOOK WHAT I FOUND ON THE FARM is an educational picture book. The book follows along with three children as they explore the farm. The book takes place in sections with the first page spread featuring a cute poem followed by a search for three sets of items/animals. The next page spread goes more in depth on the topics presented, such as about animals on the farm, what they eat, baby animals, and birds.
What I loved: This was a fun and educational read that is written at a level that will work well for older toddlers and preschoolers. While it does not go in-depth on any specific topic, it presents each one with a light level of knowledge great for this age group. A particularly fun feature is the search-and-find, which was made simple for young readers. All the items and/or animals to find are fairly easy to spot. They also come in sets (such as find two of a particular object), which also helps with early counting.
The illustrations are colorful and detailed throughout, presenting the key information well. On the informational pages, they also have a side panel that shows even more details, such as of animal footprints. There is plenty to learn, and this will be quite entertaining for the target audience.
What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the informational pages have quite a lot of text, which can be tough for impatient readers. For that reason plus the level of information, this will work best for preschoolers who have that patience and interest.
Final verdict: LOOK WHAT I FOUND ON THE FARM is a charming and educational picture book that teaches children a little bit about plants and animals that might be seen on a farm. This will work best for older toddlers or preschoolers, who will enjoy the information, appreciate the length, and love the detailed illustrations and image searches.
