A sign of a great writer?- The reader becomes so emotionally invested in the characters that they can’t let go. Kelly York does just that in Made of Stars.

Made of Stars is an intense story of friendship and love- a true coming of age story. Once you pick up the book you are instantly absorbed in the plot and with the characters. Most of the story is told in alternating POVs. In the case of Made of Stars, it is the alternating narrators that make this story work. Readers are able to get into the characters’ heads and see the same events through multiple perspectives.

Kelly York ‘s writing is straight to the point with well-developed elements of mystery. Her use of details adds to the foreboding tone that disaster must be looming for the main characters. There is a great buildup of development before the real action begins but this adds to the overall force of the piece. It allows the reader to form deep connections with the characters allowing them to become invested in the characters well being. York creates unforgettable characters, ones you love and never want to let go.


Well balanced with intrigue, mystery, love, and beautiful wording. But be careful. Just as with life, the characters in Made of Stars are complex. Once you peel away their layers sometimes the terrible truth is revealed. Are you ready to discover the truth?

Kelly York shines as an author engrossing her readers in a story where the characters jump off the page and into the reader’s heart. Well worth the read.
