What a smart way to kick off a series. Mary Pope Osborne introduces us to Jack and Annie in the first installment of this popular series. Ms. Osborne weaves in a magical world as well as including some interesting facts along the way.
When Jack and Annie discover a tree house in the woods near their home, they aren't sure what to think. The next thing they know, they are surrounded by dinosaurs! They have to figure out how to get home, and Jack wonders if this is even real.
The dialogue is natural, Jack and Annie sound like they are brother and sister. The chapters aren't too long, which is great for readers that are beginning to dip into the chapter book world. My kids at school go crazy for these stories! I can't wait for my own child to get excited about them as well.

Good Points
Great for read alouds and kids transitioning to chapter books.
