I was talking to a bookstore owner about our books the other day. She likes the books, but thought Spanish would be more popular for her community. It's not that there is a huge Hispanic population in the area. In fact, during a visit, the only Hispanics I saw in this affluent community were doing menial work (yard work, busboys) and didn't seem to live there. It confused me as to why it would be perceived as more beneficial to learn Spanish when, chances are, their parents are doing business with China. I understand that the Hispanic population is the fastest growing in the USA. However, Chinese is the #1 language in the world. In this global economy, it makes more since to be learning Chinese than Spanish."
just about the most racist and prejudiced thing i have read in a long time. i am not a fan, i will not support this point of view. i will not buy this book.
