What if you were able to have someone you love back from the dead?

Reunited, they should be stronger than ever, but none of them have returned to the palace the same.

When the man she loved died, Rissa had a choice: fall apart or let the anger take control.

Her hatred, her need for vengeance filled every part of her, turning her from sarcastic princess to unashamed killer.

But now Davion is back. Will he recognize the girl he left behind?

As they return home to a kingdom on the brink of war, Trystan, Davion, and Rissa realize the magic they sought means nothing if they don't have the right people to wield it.

A rescue mission. A siege. And the greatest battle Dreach-Sciene has ever seen.

The quest is over, but the war has just begun.

Oh the feels this book gave me. Davi's officially back but still not really? His memories are all over the place while he tries to remember what is true and what is false. Rissa is still all moody and dark. Trystan is trying to do right by everyone without losing anyone. Alixa is still amazing. But that's for the next section. This story was so deep and real and I loved it. Each action led to consequences that the characters had to deal with, even if they believed it was the better idea. I really enjoyed each of these situations though. The consequences were so real and, even though some of them made me want to scream, it really presented difficult choices. This was wasn't an easy one and it was written that way also. The plot build up was all over and now the war was there. The book flowed fantastically and made me devour the whole thing. I was a little worried about how it was going to end, but the ending made me so happy. This was a great way to end this trilogy.

The authors did such a great job on making me so attached to these characters. Trystan, Rissa, and Davion are still the main point of views, but blessed with one chapter from Alixa's point of view. Out of the three, I still enjoy Trystan's point of view the best. It's weird because Rissa and Davi had the most change but I think that's why I enjoyed Trystan's so much. Through everything, his faith and loyalty never wavered. I had some issues with Rissa in the previous book because I wasn't a fan of the "dark" path she took. Since Davi came back it took a bit but I really liked the character she developed into. She wasn't the stand by princess anymore but she found herself again. She was strong and fierce while still being good. Davi definitely went through the most change. From book one to this book, I think I like this one better. He was still his silly self but more serious and definitely sure of what he wanted. While there was still some doubts he had, he always had Rissa to remind him of who he was. And then Alixa is just amazing. There really isn't much to say about her. I wish we would have had more Wren but I am so glad he was added into this story. He really brings a lightness to the group that was definitely needed. But note this... I will NEVER forgive you for that one certain death. Even though we lost some good people, that one will always stick with me. Be prepared friends, it will rip your heart out.

Overall, A War for Love by Michelle Bryan and M. Lynn was a great way to end this series. I absolutely enjoyed this whole series from start to finish. It was definitely an adventure and not an easy one but worth it. The final book took everything the characters went through and had them make difficult decisions. Each character went through such a trial and the way they ended was perfect. I really enjoyed the conclusion to this adventure and hopefully the authors will revisit it for another danger? Please? I highly recommend this series for anyone who enjoys magic and adventure. But be prepared because they don't hold back with all of the feelings they make you feel.

Absolutely blown away!!! Fantastic ending to a fantastic series! Mastery of Earth by Michelle Bryan & M. Lynn is the final book in the Legends of the Tri-Gard series. Magic is restored in Dreach-Sciene, and war looms with Dreach-Dhoun. Trystan, Rissa, Davi, and Alixa have come nearly full-circle, and it’s time to complete what they started. Be prepared for heartache and tears as the series comes to a conclusion.

From Orphan to Prince, From Prince to King
What appealed to me most about this series is the characters. The authors put them through hell, and despite that they come out better. They adapt and change to meet what is required of them. Seriously y’all that takes some fantastic writing. Well done ladies!

Trystan and Davi are my two favorites. Trystan goes from being a prince to king overnight. The authors handle him so well. He grieves, he’s angry, he fights being the king, but ultimately accepts it. It all feels so real and believable. Davi is no different. In fact, of all the characters, I feel he deals with the most. Davi is angry and hurt and confused for a majority of the book, but he handles it with his humor and withdrawing from his friends. Why? Because he doesn’t want to hurt them.

Magic and War
Why is it that these two things always go together? It seems you can’t have one without the other. The same is the case here. The world-building though and the buildup is edge-of-your-seat, hold-your-breath fantastic. I couldn’t read it fast enough. The scheming and multiple points of view create a dramatic irony that is unmatched. I love being able to get into the heads of all the main characters. My heart ached for them as they struggled with the trials ahead of them.

My Final Thoughts
Mastery of Earth is the perfect conclusion to the Legends of the Tri-Gard series. Michelle Bryan & M. Lynn delivered a well-written, fully-fleshed out story. The war, the magic, the romance….all of it is perfect and exactly what I wanted for the characters I’ve grown to love so much. If you enjoy high fantasy, I highly recommend this book/series.
