A story of breaking free from the bonds that society places on a person. In this case, the Society is totalitarian, assigning people their jobs, spouses, location...every detail of their lives. When a glitch happens during the Officials' announcement of Cassia's match, she realizes that there could be more to life than what the Officials tell her it can be. But if she takes the path not assigned to her, she places not just herself but also her family and everyone she cares about in danger. She must decide if it is worth the risk to NOT play by the rules.
Good Points
The world-building helped me understand how the Society operates and what exactly is at stake when someone defies the Society and makes their own choice. I felt such a connection to the characters that I worried when something bad seemed destined to happen to one of them.
