About me

I was raised on the run with a family who changed addresses with the frequency of fugitives. Because we moved so much, books became my most stable friends. When we lived overseas where there was no English TV. What saved me was the book wallah: a man on a bicycle with a basketful of books who visited our house on Saturday mornings to sell us his wares. We bought everything in his basket, and I often read things that were hugely inappropriate for a young teenage girl, such as Harold Robbins novels, but I also devoured MAD magazine. Naturally my love of reading led me to a career as a librarian and English teacher.
