Teenager Maddie recently moved house and is finding it tough to make new friends at school. She desperately misses the life that she had to leave behind. However, she is about to lose much more when an unprecedented event transforms her life and the lives of everyone around her.
A powerful energy wave strikes, leaving a trail of destruction and an electricity blackout. Military troops, dressed in protective hazmat suits, forcibly evacuate the residents of her village. Suspicious of their true identity and motive, Maddie goes into hiding, determined to live off-grid until she can be reunited with her parents. Whilst searching for food, she finds her soulmate.
