Gen is back! Not for a long time, but for a good time, regardless.

Moira's Pen: A Queen's Thief Collection by Megan Whalen Turner is a YA anthology of short stories and mythologies that inspired and fueled the Queen Thief's series, by the same Megan Whalen Turner. Consisting of about 34 chapters, which can take about 3 hours to read, or about 1-2 for the more fast-paced reader such as I, Moira's Pen features an abundance of short stories set in the world of the Queen's Thief series. Which makes it quite essential to read. While other chapters are dedicated narrations from the author, about inspirations for the series.

What I liked most about Moira's Pen, was the chance it gave us to revisit our favorite characters in new stories. Some were short stories that got included in previous editions of the books. While the rest, especially the last few, acted as a soft epilogue for the series. Which had me absolutely bawling my eyes out.

Overall, I wish that this book not only came sooner after Return of the Thief. As I had forgotten most of what happened, which lead to me staring at names trying to decipher who was who. I also wish it was organized a bit better, as it felt disconnected to have stories strewn into Turner's stream of consciousness in a sense. Perhaps, formatting it like Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy would have made a bit more sense. (In terms of where one story ended and something else started).

Now, if you'll excuse me. I shall be in my reading nook re-reading the entire Queen's Thief series. While simultaneously trying not to cry.
