MY BIG BOOK OF HAPPY SOUNDS is a clever board book that presents 100 sounds with buttons that can be pressed to hear it read aloud. Each page or page spread includes a setting, such as playtime or spring, with key sounds from the scene shown.
What I loved: This is a simple concept that works well. The book includes labels on the page that correspond to the words read by the book along with their sounds. Each button image appears on the page, and pressing it results in the whole page being read aloud. This can help with early word recognition alongside auditory interest.
This book is made to be read independently, as young readers can match the images and press the buttons by themselves to hear the whole thing aloud. Board book pages make them easy to turn. As such, this will work best for toddlers and young preschoolers.
What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the sounds do not have any volume controls or on-off switches, so the buttons can be pressed easily even when unintended. As each button reads a whole page plus gives sounds, a single press can result in a lengthy amount of sound. I would be careful with storage. It would also be great if they could be quieter as an option, as they are quite loud.
Final verdict: MY BIG BOOK OF SOUNDS is an overall fun board book that young readers can explore themselves, promoting early word recognition and auditory learning.
