One of my favorites! Read it now!!
Good Points
I absolutely loved this book! I am usually not a fan of time travel books simply because I don't like sci-fi type of books. However, this is one time travel book that I could not put down. This is because it is written as more of a cute story for teens today. I really liked that this book took place during the Renaissance in Italy. I think that was an awesome time period, and it was cool to see how Rachel really incorporated it into the book. It made me want to go back in time!! Especially to get to see Lorenzo. Oh Lorenzo. You made me jealous of Cat. I loved their interactions with each other and how they may have been normal for the 21st century, but not the 16th century. Watching Cat figure out the proper way to do things was hilarious to me. I did not think about how many things would be so completely different. Things that we take for granted like toothpaste. So funny! My favorite part of the book was probably after Cat came back to the 21st century. I absolutely loved the way Rachel tied in the two stories! And the ending!! I cannot wait for the second book now!!

This is the debut novel by author Rachel Harris, and I must say its an awesome start! I liked this book right off the bat. I think that the cover is so fitting and funny at the same time once you have read that book. When I read the book blurb I fell in love the storyline. It would be so awesome to travel back in time. Especially to the renaissance period (big dresses). Plus I thought that it was hilarious about how there was the My Super Sweet 16 Spoof of the MTV show.
I really enjoyed the characters. I loved Cat, other then I find that she accepted the time travel too readily, where I would have been pooping my pants. Also she was worried about getting home for a small period then forgot all about home For most of the book. I wished that we had learned more about Cat's mom. I found Reyna to be super mysterious, and hopefully we learn more about her in the future.then there was Lorenzo (swoon). How hot is he. I loved his player reputation. But he was also sweet and romantic. I'm just sad that things between him and Cat had to end. :(
Then Rachel leaves me hanging on a cliff lol with the ending!!! Can't wait for the next book!!!!

Within the first few lines I loved Cat. I thought she was funny, smart and had just the right amount of snarkiness (don't think that's a proper word but I'm sticking with it) thrown in. I loved her attitude at the beginning but watching the subtle changes and her growth throughout the book made me love her even more.

A lot of the quotes throughout the book made me giggle but one in particular really amused me. 'I stare at the door waiting for Miley Cyrus to come barreling in, singing tunelessly about our pasts being the key to our futures.' I have nothing against Miley Cyrus, but that just cracked me up.

I really liked Cat's first meeting with Lorenzo, mainly because Lorenzo is a total babe and any scene with him is good! I love that upon meeting Lorenzo, Cat immediately decides he's a 16th century player and resolves not to let his charms affect her. Well that lasts all of 30 seconds, and I cannot blame Cat, my resolve would've weakened about 30 seconds earlier than that!

I really liked all the characters in this book, even the not-so-nice ones. They were all well thought out and even those characters I only met briefly were brilliantly written, I got a good feel of who they were, even from a few short lines. I loved all the characters and was totally swooning over Lorenzo, but I had a real soft spot for Alessandra. She was soft and demure but I thought she had spunk! Plus her name is absolutely gorgeous and she's a real sweetheart. I cannot wait for Rachel's next book if not for the brilliant writing then just to meet Alessandra again.

I thought this book was amazing. The cover was gorgeous and Rachel weaved a mystical tale full of mystery and wonder; it also taught me some really cool things about Italy and it's art. My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century took me on a magical journey through renaissance Italy, told a brilliant tale of love and left me begging for more.
Good Points
The characters were amazing! I especially loved Alessandra but they were all written beautifully!

I love time travel.
Good Points
I received My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century by Rachel Harris from DAC ARC Tours for an honest review.

I first heard about this book because I was on the cover reveal for the book and I loved the cover! But even before I saw the cover I read the synopsis and loved it because it's about time travel! and ever since I read Elle Strauss' books about time travel I've loved that genre!

My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century is about a girl named Cat who is going on a trip to Florence, Italy with her dad and her step mother. She is really annoyed about having to spend time with her step mother because she really doesn't like her and also because her stepmother is trying to throw her a sweet sixteen party that she doesn't want at all. So one afternoon while Cat is exploring by herself she walks into a gypsy tent and when she comes out, she's in the sixteenth century!

Cat was an awesome character to get to know, I thought when she walked into a totally different time frame she'd freak out and shut down but she didn't she was having the time of her life. This was everything she'd ever wanted to be able to explore Florence back in the day she just didn't know that this trip is to help her learn some very needed lessons.

My favorite character had to be Alessandra because she was so enthusiastic. Usually I don't like those kinds of people but in this case I thought she was pretty cool. I liked her even more after Cat told her, her whole life story and Less didn't go running away. Less is short for Alessandra by the way.

Lastly for characters there is Lorenzo! I loved that he was supposedly a "player" but when he set eyes on Cat she was the only thing he wanted. I wish we could have seen a little bit more from him but what happens in the end makes up for it!

One thing I didn't like was that some of the parts weren't too necessary like when Cat was learning about all the paintings in the tour, that part seemed to run on forever and I found myself yawning constantly. I feel like there could have been a little less information about all the paintings.

But overall I did give the book a 4 out of 5 stars because I love time travel and this plot was just really interesting!

Thank you Heather Riccio for the ARC. :)

The author has an excellent way with words.I read the entire story in one sitting(I seem to be doing that a lot nowadays) and no matter how hard I tried,I couldn't take my eyes of the kindle until I finally finished the last page.(I know,it sounds as if I'm in love with my kindle but you know what I mean) and because of this,I had to listen to a lot of gibberish from my mom about how I'm ruining my eyesight by reading on the kindle all day.The ending was a total cliffhanger, and nowhere near how I expected it to be.Plus,I never thought that I could ever put time-travel and chick-lit in the same room without causing conflict, since the things that pop into my mind when I think about time-travel are sci-fi stuff. You know,time-travel machines, spaceships, flying cars, alien invasions, and other crazy stuff of that sort. But Rachel Harris showed me otherwise. ;)

My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century is a wonderful read for any teenage girl,or any adult woman who's young at heart.(like the author herself :))It has its share of humour and romance, along with a hot Italian guy from the sixteenth century which makes up the whole package.(Yum!^^)While reading this book you'll laugh and swoon at the same time,so much that you won't be able to tell which is which. And let's not forget about Cat's pathetic attempt to fit in to the elite society of renaissance Italy which is bound to make you laugh so hard that your cheeks will start hurting.Even if you're not into chick-lit much,My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century is absolutely worth a shot.
