Night Stories: Folktales from Latin America is a graphic novel that tells three tales from Latin America, this includes a story about the Lara, La Lechuza, and La Luz Mala. After these stories, there is information about each of these tales informing you of their ecological, cultural, and historical background along with a bibliography.

What I Liked: When I saw this book I was instantly intrigued since I am not as familiar with tales from Latin America and am always wanting to learn more. I appreciate the way the author opens this book with information about storytelling and the culture in which we are being immersed. I also appreciated how the close of the book provides more details on each of the stories that we have just read. 

Night Stories: Folktales from Latin America is a fun graphic novel in which two siblings tell each other scary stories they are familiar with. I love how the siblings interject throughout the other one telling the story as it allows for a moment of pause. The art style in this book lends itself well to the spooky genre and adds an element of fear as you follow the stories. 

Final Verdict: Night Stories: Folktales from Latin America is a great graphic novel for the upcoming spooky season that introduces children to folktales from Latin America. Children ages 7+ will enjoy reading something that borders between spooky and scary while adults will also enjoy reading these tales that may be new to them.
