ONE LITTLE BUG is a clever lift-the-flap board book that teaches children about insects and bugs. The book includes many flaps on each page with fun facts or ideas for further exploration. For instance, after the bug safari, there is a page spread on taking a closer look, checking out how many legs, eyes, wings, and which patterns the bugs may have. It also includes information on bug habitats, unique features, and more.
What I loved: This is a great lift-the-flap board book for young readers who love bugs. The book contains plenty of fun facts as well as flaps to discover more information. Each page spread has a theme, so children can decide which pages/themes they want to really delve into with plenty of text and information across the spread. Detailed illustrations and bright colors make this a fun book to visually explore. This ends up being educational and enjoyable - a perfect setup for older toddlers and preschoolers.
What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the text can be tough to read in places when it is black and set against darker colors. The flaps are also only cardstock thickness, and though they are built in, some of the shapes make them easy to rip for rougher readers.
Final verdict: ONE LITTLE BUG is a delightful exploration of the bug world with plenty of fun facts, detailed illustrations, and flaps to discover.
