Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they even be together?

Wow! Just wow! Just when I thought Jen couldn’t be more of an outstanding author, she goes and writes something like Origin and simply blows me away with the sheer awesomeness of it. Is it possible to love every line, no every sentence, no every WORD, that is in this book?! Because I did! SO much happens in this book, it just blows your mind. I’ll say it, it’s definitely *bookishly* life-changing! Origin is a heart-stopping, breathtaking, action-packed bundle of EPIC all rolled into about 400 pages, with a captivating cover, to boot! An unputdownable book at its finest!
Oh, those first few chapters, really got me going. I swear, I usually don’t get all choked up and feeling all “the feels”, but Jen had me feeling the whole rainbow of emotions, back and forth, as I read this book. Jen really makes you feel everything that Katy goes through while stuck in Daedalus. A lot of the questions you’ve had about this organization and the Luxen are answered in this book and you get to see all the sides to this inevitable showdown that will beg the question – What side are you on? Sure, there were parts that I saw coming a mile away, but they were parts that I knew just HAD TO happen to make the story great and I was so happy to see Jen lay it all out there in this installment. There were some minor surprises throughout the book and I have to say, Jen seriously didn’t hold anything back here. Be forewarned, there are a LOT of deaths and dark stuff that happens in this book, but Jen adds her touch of humor and lightness when needed to keep you feeling all the emotions like I did. Although there are some new characters, and a few from the past, that make appearances, for the most part, you get a TON of Daemon and Katy in this book, which I definitely won’t complain about.
Without a doubt, my favorite part of this book was Daemon and Katy’s relationship. Or, more importantly, all of Daemon’s POVs. It’s pretty much why we’re all here, am I right?! Getting to be in his head for more than a moment here and there was absolute bliss! I loved seeing his anguish and pain while he was separated from Katy. I reveled in his joy when they were reunited. I laughed my ass off at his insane jokes and thoughts regarding his surroundings and situations. But more than that, I really loved how their relationship grew and developed in this book. They go through a crapload of crazy in Origin, which truly tests the depths of their love and, with the good and bad parts, I’m so insanely ecstatic with how Jen handled it all. There were just so many touching and heartfelt moments between these two crazy characters, and one scene that really tore at my heart a little, I just loved every minute of them together. Hands down, one of my favorite YA couples ever!
Origin is truly a knock-out, keep you at the edge of your seat, leaves you holding you breath in excitement, and has you cemented to the each and every page kind of book! It is all that, and more! Without a doubt, the best book I’ve read from Jen so far, and easily my favorite in the series to date. I literally ate, slept, and breathed Origin for the short amount of time I read it, because let’s face it, you know damn well I couldn’t put this book down. I did my best to savor every last word in this book, but really, it was just too good not to devour whole. If there’s only ONE book you even consider reading this year, it HAS TO be Origin!

I'm a huge fan of the Lux series so when I was sent an ebook galley I was beyond excited! I even purchased the book in print. I'm that much of a fan!

Readers finally find out what happens to Katy in the jaw-hanging ending to OPAL. Let's just say the rumors of what Daemon's brother Dawson and Beth went through are nothing like the real truth. Horrific revelations abound inside the government agency that you can't help but know the so-called officials aren't telling the truth of why they want Katy and Daemon. These scenes had me on the edge of my seat. Intense, gripping, and yes, even graphic at times, I couldn't stop reading. It's here where the reader finds out what the 'Origins' are and why Daemon and the rest of the Lux were warned not to mix with humans. Also readers are introduced to a new character: Archer, who's not all that he seems.

Yes, it can lead to some really nasty and terrible consequences. **No, I won't tell you more!

Daemon is arrogant but also shows his soft side. I mean who wouldn't love someone who would do anything to go after the girl he loves? And he shows he'll do just about anything, including putting himself in danger, just to save Katy. Plus, he's totally hawt. Like H-A-W-T.

What Katy goes through in the government building would horrify anyone. Still she shows strength that at times would make anyone else run the other way. I think these scenes show Katy growing and also having her chose which side she'll stand on.

There's twists and turns throughout this novel plus some romantic moments between Daemon and Katy that are long in coming.

The climax and battle scene in Vegas are fast-paced and had me gasping. More is yet revealed including a cliffhanger ending that will force Daemon and his family to make a crucial decision: will they stand with humans or Lux.

The only bad thing about this novel? Why do we have to wait for book five? So unfair!!!

This is a total must read series!
Good Points
1. Daemon-Need I say more?
2. Amazing chemistry between Daemon and Katy
3. Intense Roswell-like scenes that had me gasping
4. OMG, moments. Heck, tons of those moments throughout
5. Archer. Love this new character
6. Mega reveals with one nail-biting climax that leads to a 'holy cow' cliffhanger ending

Hell hath no fury like a Luxen whose been sent to sleepover camp.

What I Loved: After that mini heart attack I had at the end of OPAL, I was more than ready for ORIGIN. I LOVED Daemon's POV and this is my favorite in the Lux series so far, but MY WORD Jen is slowly killing me with these endings!

From the moment Daemon goes all Luxen on his fellow glow worms to the heart-pumping romance and the chest-clutching end, this sequel is fast paced, action-packed and full.of.feels!

Daemon finds Katy which really shouldn't surprise anyone, I mean, this is DAEMON BLACK we're dealing with but in the process of playing knight in glowing source light, DB also uncovers a few secrets. Secrets that are shocking, heartbreaking and more than a little creepy. (One in particular threatened to give me nightmares.)

Daedalus isn't the only one keeping secrets though, even Daemon has a few up his sleeve. When the truth is revealed and people start dropping faster than E.T. can phone home, Daemon and Katy will be faced with choosing between love and loyalty. And that may be harder than either of them could have ever imagined.

ORIGIN has all of the characters we've come to love and the snooty-booty ones we don't. In addition to the new faces we meet and who I would really hate to see die *coughs* Archer *coughs*, we're also treated to a couple of familiar faces from another fan favorite YA series.

First off Spoilers will be here, as this is the second to the last in the series there is nothing I can say other than I love this book and it's just as epic as the rest of the series. So if you don't want to be spoiled, don't read anymore.

People die in this book, it's sad. The ending is freaking ugh! Talk about a huge cliff hanger! I was at work when I finished this novel and all I could think about was when I could get off so I could start the next one. What's going on with these new Luxen? I mean, Daemon can't really just up and leave Katy, we all know that will never happen.

So in this one Daemon actually goes and gets himself trapped with Katy. Terrible things happen, Katy is hurt badly and Daemon is forced to heal. We find out about Origins... An Origin is when a male Luxen and a female hybrid have a baby. That's what Luc is! I was so happy to get more of him as he's an interesting character. Origins are no joke though, they are really powerful and the latest batch is rather creepy yet cute.

Daemon and Katy are still so wonderful together and they grow even stronger through this and even get married under fake IDs since they can't use their real ones. Daemon is now her husband, it's so cute to think! They are so wonderful together and I hope they have cute little babies soon. Not too soon though, that would steal Dawson and Beth's thunder. Yes, they are having a baby! I so saw this coming from a mile away.

I also just want to say, that Daemon is as hot as ever and I love him even more.

I feel that shit is going to hit the fan in the next book. They have an army after them now; Ash and Andrew are now dead. Which I know is sad but where they are mostly dicks to Katy, I didn't care too much, I was so sad when Adam died though because he was a sweetie. It did also suck for Luc that Paris died.

All in all, this was a great next installment in the saga of Katy and Daemon and I can't wait to keep going.

Do you know how hard it was to choose a book to review? I've read SO many amazing books recently that is was super hard to choose one. Origin was the one I was most excited for though, so I decided to review it first. Let me tell you, this book was amazing. If you look back at my not to amazing review of the previous book, this one turns it all around. The writing is as amazing as always. The characters begin to heal, only to hurt all over again. There were a few awkward moments, but overall I really liked it.

This story did something different from the previous books in the series. Origin is told from two POV's. The main character Katy and the male protagonist, Daemon. It's nice to finally get inside Daemon's head for long periods of time. Part of the reason I was so annoyed at Daemon in Opal was that I didn't know what he truly meant and why he was so condescending. Origin shed some light on his character and I had loads of fun getting to know him more. Katy develops exponentially in this book. She finally learns what she's fighting for, and the true scope of the situation and hole they've been thrown in. I can't help but love Katy and find her hilarious. Her inner monologue is a never-ending stream of funny mixed with bits of love and seriousness. Katy knows when to be silly and when to get down and dirty. In this, we finally get to meet Beth, the love interest of Dawson who was also kidnapped by the government and who's freedom cost Katy hers. Beth is portrayed as weak and fragile, but a big reveal towards the end of the story tossed my presumptions out the window. This reveal will be a big problem in the final book and I'm excited to see it play out.

The best part of this book? One word. Archer. His character is so awesome, so swoon-worthy, that he gets his own paragraph. Archer is Katy's guard of sorts, and from the page we meet him, I know I like him. His character is obviously hiding something, but that only intrigues the reader more. Archer is mysteriously kind and randomly humorous in a place that have little of both. I was praying that Archer wouldn't become an enemy or bad guy, because I couldn't stand to loose his character. I can't say any more so as not to spoil the surprise, but I'll give you one hint. Archer knows more about the Origin project than he lets on. Here's a fan-made picture of Archer in case you're in doubt.

Archer was my favorite character, but my favorite part occurred on pages 260-261. In fact, they're so awesome, I just have to share them with you.

Reading my new name for a third time, I still couldn't believe it. Something about this name was familiar. "Anna Whitt?"
Dee bounced a little. "I picked the names."
Things started to click into place. "What's yours, Daemon?"
He flipped his billfold open and snickered. "Kaidan Rowe. Hmm. That has a nice ring to it."
My mouth dropped open as I twisted toward Dee. "You picked names from a book!"
She giggled. "I thought you'd like that. Besides, Sweet Evil is one of my favorites, and you made me read it, so..."
I couldn't help it. I laughed as I stared down at my picture ID. It was an identical copy of my real driver's license, except it was a different state and address. Underneath it was my actual ID-Katy Swartz-and a few other sheets of folded paper.
Gosh, I missed my books. I wanted to hug the, love them, squeeze them.
"I found that in your bedroom," Dee explained, tapping a finger off it. "I snuck in and got you some clothes and this before we left."
"Thank you," I said sliding my new ID over my old one. Staring at both was going to give me an identity crisis.
"So, wait, my new name is from one of those books?" Daemon frowned. He also had his real ID, but there was a bank card underneath, set to Kaidan's name. "I'm afraid to even ask what it's about. I better not be named after any kind of magician or something lame like that."
"No. It's about angels, demons, and nephilim, and..." I stalled, acutely aware that everyone was staring at me like I'd grown a third eye. "Kaidan's like the embodiment of lust."

If you can't tell why this is my favorite part of the story, it's because two of my favorite series, the Sweet trilogy and the Lux series, were combined into a page and a half of pure awesomeness. I actually got into multiple twitter conversations with both authors. One went something like this.
Anyway, I just loved this book. It was so amazing and fun. I cannot get enough of the characters or the story. There are awkward moments that I don't think are needed in the story, but maybe they're building up to something special. Who knows? It's no question that this book receives five stars!

P.S. After finishing Origin, this *might* have also happened on twitter...
And in reply to that...
And this...

After two hours of fangirling, and screaming over the fact that I got this book on it’s release day, I started it with fear, trepidation, and a whole lot of excitement. The cliff-hanger at the end of the last book was excruciating and I had no idea how bad things would get for Katy.

In the name of all things alien, this book was amaaaazing! I ignored three courses worth of homework to finish this up (who cares about college when you can read about Daemon?)

Daemon is awesome, better than in all the previous books. Most of his dialogues actually had me clutching my Kindle for dear life.

“Did you think you could stop me? I’ll burn the world down to save her.”

“I have no idea how I’m going to fix all of that, but I will. I will keep you safe. I will make sure that we have a future to hold on to and look forward to … I promise you.”

Daemon is so my book-boyfriend. *major swoons*

Okay, so the proverbial shit has hit the fan in Origin, Katy is in Daedalus, Daemon is no lock-down and his family and friends are trying to keep him from going to save Katy. Futile attempts? Of course. You can’t keep a Luxen like Daemon in chains. And he does what he wants to do, he goes to find Katy.

What the Daedalus plans on doing to the two of them will have you biting your nails and sometimes closing your eyes shut at the horror. In complete JLA style, the ending will have you on edge. This installment is as good as it gets.

If you’ve read Sweet Evil, or if you follow Wendy Higgins on Goodreads, you know that there’s a neat little surprise in the book.

A Sweet Evil reference that literally made me jump out of my beanbag for joy! For that alone, I’d give JLA a standing ovation. You, Madame, are amazing.

The Final Word:
I was a bit disappointed with a cover, it isn’t in-sync with the rest of the series, but the book is worth the read. Lux or JLA fans, go grab it!
