P.S. I Still Love You

all i can feel about this book is envy... this book is just written so well. it still has the same formula with To All The Boys I've Loved Before with family, friendship, relationships, but love was raised to the second power.

so why envy? i feel so envious because I feel like this is what a first romance should be and Lara Jean and Peter are so realistic! Being sixteen is still such an innocent age and this book reflected that so much.

this time though, it's starting to become a love triangle. and having John around the story gives us a new perspective in love and as a challenge. Childhood is also a big part in this story. and i swear to you, i felt as though i became a kid with Lara Jean's group of friends from that one hot summer.

this book made me realize, remember, and reconsider being a teen. and that's what is so beautiful about this series, it makes you think and feel. amazing writing, realistic characters and sub/plots, and very well translated kinds of love.

i cannot give justice to this book, this is such a good and amazing book. and I am excited to what will come next.

MY THOUGHTS
I adored the first book! It was the perfect contemporary, but thee ending just wasn't an ending! I was happy to know that the story would be continued! I didn't love this as much as the first book, but I still love this book!

This book takes of where the last book left off. Lara Jean and Peter broke off whatever they were, but Lara realizes that she loves him and writes the letter. Lara Jean and Peter get back in a relationship, but it's a bumpy road. First, a videotape of their hot tub make-out goes viral at their high school. Then, Peter still hangs out with her ex, who Lara Jean is pretty sure sent out the video. Add in an old love that Lara Jean gets in contact with again and things get complicated.

One of the things that I love about these books, and Jenny Han's books in general, is how real they are. There is a lot of focus on the conflict between Lara Jean and Peter, but that's to be expected. Really, it only made things more real. This book is also very slow-paced. While this usually bothers me in books, it works so well for this book. It made me feel like I was following Lara Jean's life. I would also like to mention that the romance isn't everything bout this book. There's also sisters, nostalgic elements, and just everyday things in Lara Jean's life. And I loved it. I loved the realness of it.

I was really worried going into this book at first. "When another boy from her past returns to her life" What? No! We already had two boys in the first book and now there will be three?! I shipped Lara Jean and Peter heard in the first book, I didn't want anything ruining their relationship. Thankfully, it wasn't that big of a problem. I actually liked the other guy and he added many nostalgic moments. I'm a sucker for those things (I liked the game by the way!). Peter was a bit of a jerk at times, when he kept choosing Guinevere. It made sense later, but it was still upsetting at the time. Also, he was still a nice guy and stood up for Lara Jean when the video went viral.

IN CONCLUSION
Overall, I loved this book! This is such a great contemporary book! It's so real, with wonderful characters and a great story! I really recommend Jenny Han's books. In fact, I'm tempted to reread The Summer I Turned Pretty now.

Adjusting to real dating after fake dating is a harder change than both Lara Jean and Peter expected. With old friends returning and old enemies too present in their relationship, Lara Jean finds herself questioning her future with Peter - and her feelings for letter recipient John Ambrose. Is she in love with both of them? Is she in love with either of them?

This book was just as fun and cute to read as the first book. It had the same lightness as To All the Boys I've Loved Before while feeling a bit more mature. It was also, like the first, an easy read that I really enjoyed.

Lara Jean was plagued by insecurities and confusion through this book that I found to be understandable. She was innocent and seemed young for her age, which I came to like through both books. She felt more like I felt as a teenager, young, not ready, confused, impressionable. I liked that she learned to stand up for herself and could admit when she was wrong. She continued to have interesting dynamics with all the other characters, old and new.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the growing friendship between Lara Jean and John Ambrose. There was an easiness with them that was endearing and fun and they had so many childhood memories together. Lara Jean and Peter were still cute together but I liked seeing them having to face some issues now that they were an official couple. The dynamic between Lara Jean and her sisters, just like in the last book, was one of my favourite things. It was just so familiar, having three sisters of my own.

I was worried about the possible love triangle overtaking the story but, it turned out, I actually enjoyed the way it played out. It didn't feel like a love triangle so much as a girl trying to determine her feelings for the boys. Friendship? Like? Love? I thought it was very believable that she would be confused between them.

I did prefer the first book slightly more. The fake dating aspect was just so much fun to read but this one definitely had a lot of great moments to make it an enjoyable book to read.
