Nature lovers and enthusiasts will enjoy this beautifully illustrated book about the infamous red-tailed hawk who made his home in Central Park.

When Pale Male later roosted above a Fifth Avenue apartment building, its residents complained to management, who removed the nest. This incited loud protests by birdwatchers and average citizens who had fallen in love with Pale Male and his mate.

The text is fairly straightforward and the story is interesting, but the real selling point for this book is its gorgeous watercolor illustrations. Things dont get much more colorful than Central Park in fall, and the setting of the tale is used to full advantage. Talented illustrator, Meilo So, captures the charming hero as he floats above the most famous cityscape in the U.S. and swoops low to show the array of people being charmed.

A winning nonfiction storybook for those interested in Pale Males Tale!
