Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Last Olympian (Book 5)

I really enjoyed this series. It was fast paced, filled with humor and excitement. After reading the first book, I knew I had to read the whole series. There was never a boring moment thanks to all the nonstop action and adventure. Another great part of the series was how Riordan mixed Greek Mythology with the modern day world. With Greek gods and demigods, this was definitely one series not to be missed by fans of fantasy and adventure!

Having worked my way through the entire Percy Jackson series, this one was a bit disappointing.  The storyline revolves around one big on-going battle, and Percy seems to have become more "normalized" over the years.  His overt ADHD-ness and rather sarcastic perspective in the earlier book is less noticeable in this one; it makes him a bit less immediately loveable as a character, but it's still a good summer read.

Percy Jackson and the other demigods are in the battle of their life, helping protect Mount Olympus and the rest of Manhattan from the Titan Kronos. Kronos has brought to life another Greek monster/demon named Typhon, whose cross country rampage diverts the Gods' attention from Mount Olympus, leaving it easy prey. Riordan had a lot of ground to cover in his final say in what could be Percy's last quest and he did it well. From reaching into the past to look at explaining Annabeth's unwavering belief in Luke to Grover, Thalia and even Nico's stories, I was pretty happy with their final tale.
