Plague (Gone #4)

This has to be one of my most favorite series ever. I thought that the last three books were good, but when I read this one, I was changed. This book is disgusting, terrifying, and simply amazing. I think I liked Plague the most out of all the books as it is the most gruesome and the most thrilling.

I loved the idea of the bugs eating you from the inside. It was written in such good detail, that I was afraid of bugs for a whole month after. I was also terrified of colds, because of the plague that made you hack up your lungs, literally. This book is scary and disgusting.

I think that the characters, after eight months in the FAYZ, changed quite a lot. I don't think they changed for the better, but more for the worse, because, as the situation gets more dangerous, they need to adapted so that they survive. I think that Michael Grant has made the characters break-down because of that, and it only makes it more realistic.

I truly believe you view of amazing books will change after reading this, mine was. I have already read FEAR, and have to wait for 2013 for LiGHT to be released, so I am on edge to see what will happen in the grand finale.

This week I'm doing a book review on Plague by Michael Grant. This is one of my favorite series'. This book series is not for the faint of heart. It is a very graphic, gory, weird, and yet totally AWESOME book series. This is the fourth book in the Gone series, if you haven't read the first couple books, or seen the blog posts about them, then check them out. This book was the most graphic, and also the best book of the series. I will post the book trailer of this book at the bottom of the post. Normally I don't like book trailers, but this one was actually really good and matched what the book was about. But anyway... Here is the summary from the front flap of the book:

It's been eight months since all the adults disappeared. GONE.

My first impression of this book was good, I like the reoccurring image of the gone books (the one word titles, and the two people on the front of the book two people on the back of the book thing) This one I was shocked that they had Astrid on the front without Sam, but once I read the book, I saw why this happened. It was because Sam and Astrid were not together in this book, until the last ten to twenty pages. (By "not together", I don't mean not dating, I literally mean... Not... Together) I thought I wouldn't like this, but surprisingly I liked it better that they were apart. Sam did his thing, and Astrid did hers, and there was hardly any drama between them during the whole book. Sam went on a special mission for Albert, (fun fact: my admiration of Albert went rapidly down hill while reading this book)and Astrid was slowly going insane while taking care of little Pete. There was also a terrible sickness that had you literally coughing up your insides. The Darkness' plans have gotten really diabolical. It involves Drake/Britney, Bugs that are nearly indestructible and eat you from the inside out, and Finding Nemesis. (Another Fun Fact: I used to feel sorry for Britney, now I hate her more than I do Drake... I didn't think that was possible) Caine and Diana have a lot of things going on with them. (My normally increasing hate of Caine lightened a bit during this book) Overall this book was the best so far. I give it 5/5 stars because it was really good and had slim to no flaws. Check this book series out it's the best. (Mutants, Talking Animals, Killer Insects, a sickness that has you coughing up your insides... what more could you ask for?) There will be two more gone books after this, Fear and Light, I can't wait for either. Check out the blog next week for a review of Invincible by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

This is another great installment in the Gone series. I enjoyed this one as much as the others, and Grant has an amazing thing going on here. It didn't feel like an in between or filler, it felt very much like he has a plot, and these kids have a story to tell.
I wasn't expecting a lot of the twists that came up in here, and I don't know how it's going to effect the story overall, but I know that I can't wait to find out.

WARNING! There are no spoilers in this review, but this is the FOURTH BOOK in the Gone Series. The first three are GONE, HUNGER, and LIES, and now PLAGUE!

PLAGUE opens perfectly, starting off eerily as usual. It’s been eight months since every adult disappeared, leaving out hero Sam Temple alone to lead the group of heroes, of enemies. But not everything is perfect when there are no adults, and in the most exhilarating installment yet, Michael Grant relentlessly pulls the reader into the story and does not let them go.

The characters are many in the Gone Series, each one different with an odd ability, each one with a personal struggle unique and interesting. Some reviews say that there are too many characters in the pages of Plague, but I love the wide-spread of them. Some authors do what Michael has gone, but give their characters the same description and personality, same struggle. But the characters here are so easy to tell apart I wish there were more!

I find PLAGUE to be a bit more mature than the other books, but as the events begin to lead to the climax of the last book, LIGHT, I am glad Michael does not skim the surface of the horrid acts and bad things that could happen when kids are left without authority. It’s chilling to think that the characters are believable, plucked from the everyday world and plopped into a story where parents have evaporated.

This book is one of the best in the series, and is a MUST READ
