I’ve been reading a lot of children’s books lately and have found a new favorite. My two-year-old partner in crime calls this the “Tiger Book” as she asks to read it again and again. For five nights running, she’s wanted this to be her bedtime story and then her second one and her third, until falling asleep.

The writing is phenomenal. The rhyming is pleasing to the ear and a lot of fun to speak out loud without having to resort to cheesy rhymes. It’s creative enough that it doesn’t have to stretch the meaning of certain words. For some reason, I even added an English accent in my head when I saw lines like “goodness no!”

It’s refreshing to see a story that uses a little girl to teach a lesson where the girl isn’t a brat. As she’s being taught to say please, she takes to the lesson quickly and does so with a cuteness rather than disobedience.

The artwork is just as cute as the writing, making this book the definition of the whole package, or whole book as it is.
