Porcupine and Cactus is a silly tale sure to delight young readers. Poor Porcupine wants to make a friend and is excited to meet one as prickly as him. However, the cactus's silence soon upsets Porcupine and makes him doubt their friendship. The text complexity is perfect for young readers and they are sure to like the humor of being in on a joke that Porcupine does not get. The illustrations are expressive which is impressive given that a cactus is stationary. Overall, young readers are sure to enjoy this charming tale of a Porcupine who befriends a cactus.
