his series has its hook in me, that's for sure! This is the second installment in Scott Westerfeld's insanely popular series that began with Uglies. This one started off a little slower for me, but by the end the action and suspense were just as good as in the first novel.

Pretties continues to follow Tally Youngblood, a rebellious Ugly that was turned Pretty in the last novel. She is enjoying her new life as a Pretty, taking in all the party action and making friends with the very exclusive club, the Crims, when an old friend from her past life as an Ugly shows up. Tally is reminded of her trip to The Smoke and what she was actually doing in Pretty Town. Tally and Zane, a Crim, take the pills left by Croy and hope that they will be cured as the members of the Old Smoke had promised. When Zane has a bad reaction to the pill, Tally must find a way to get him to the New Smoke and the doctor that created the Cure.

In this novel, Tally wrestles with a lot of emotions including guilt, anger, and sadness. She feels horribly for betraying Shay, David, and the rest of The Smoke and wishes only to redeem herself. The only part of this book that I didn't care for was all the "pretty talk." It can get confusing and somewhat annoying when every other word is "bubbly." That alone is not a reason to avoid these books, as the plots are fantastic and very much original. I can't wait to read the last in the trilogy, Specials.

Pretties is even better than it's predecessor, Uglies. This book will have you making predictions and rooting for Tally to make important decisions. I know she didn't do everything I wanted her to, but that was all the more reason to keep reading. I wanted to see how it would end up. It's a great read.

this is the second book in the series.

Tally is in a whole new world.it's way different from the smoke. since she gave herself up to try the treatment, she was sent back to "pretty town" and she was turned pretty. there she become part of a hot clique called Crims. instandly she and the leader(Zane) click and she forgets all about her relationship with David and the Cure. then croy brings her the cure during a hot party and she has no clue what it is. after taking the cure, which she splits with zane, tally and the crims must once again defeat the Specials and escape to the Smokes. but it's so much harder this time because specials have some new tricks up their sleeves and the smoke seem to be moving ever so oftern.

this book if Great and just as good as the first one. i can't wait till i get teh third and last book in the trilogy. it's going to be a good read.

i would reccomend this book to anyone 12+.

Tally has gotten her wish. She has fianlly become pretty. Her life is full of parties, and perfection. Her boyfriend Zane is totally popular, and hot, and she has everything she has ever wanted. A letter from her past comes saying that she is allowing herself to be cured from the lesions they put into their pretty minds to make them happy and bubbly all the time. There are pills that she and Zane split. What she doesnt know is that Zane took the people with the nanos that eat away at the lesions, and she took the pill that was supposed to stop the nanos from eating the rest of the brain. Slowly Zane is deteriorating. Special Circumstances is after the New Smoke that has been created since Tally accidently burned the other one down. Shay, is also pretty, but in an icy way. She is part of Special Circumstances. Special Circumstances are made up of almost indestructable people. There surgery is to the extenet. Their bones won't break, their power is at the max, they have night vision, and extra special hearing, allowed to heal within hours, and extra-ordinary speed. Shay's mission; to capture Tally, and it happens. "Face it Tally-wa, you're special." said Shay.

Tally is beautiful now and has no idea about what happened in the Smoke. All she cares about are parties, Crims, and Zane. But a person from her past comes back to haunt her with a cryptic message and two pills that are supposed to cure her. She and Zane take them just in time to appear innocent in front of the Specials who follow her every move. The cure plummets her into an epic adventure and she's still not sure what she has gotten herself into. If you liked Uglies, then you'll love Pretties, and I can't wait until Specials is out!
