Beautiful illustrations and a strong plot line make this an interesting book for young readers. The excellent financial lessons (living within a budget, approaching money needs with an entrepreneurial spirit, and factoring in the cost of supplies when figuring out profit) are made easily accessible to kids.

The only drawback that I found while reading this was the assumption that the reader had read earlier Pretty Penny books, which I had not. I was thoroughly lost for the first few pages trying to figure out who Bunny was, if the pig was a toy or a real pet, and indeed if the names being given belonged to the pig or the cat. This is an excellent series of books, especially for teaching children how to manage money under the guise of a well-illustrated story, but I suggest starting from the beginning of the series to alleviate any potential confusion.
