First Test was the first Tamora Pierce book that I've read. I feel that I can relate to Kel more than Alanna and Daine, because she starts off at my age, and she reminds me of me. In a way, she is more brave than Alanna, as she hid her true self, but Kel wears it proudly on her sleeve. I feel that she is the first true Lady Knight, as she goes the whole way through as a lady.
I think Kel is a strong character that does things that she believes are right. She is a lovable character that captured my heart. As well, she seems to have more humor than all the other Tamora Pierce characters. This is a very cute quartet, that has a deeper, hidden meaning.
Kel is truly a Protector of the Small, but she does great things that earn the name of Lady Knight.
First Test is funny, charming, truly inspiring and an amazing read that took my breath away. I loved this book, and I think that everyone else who reads it, will love it just as much.
