MY THOUGHTS
My knowledge of Indian mythology is very limited. All my knowledge of Indian mythology basically comes from the Tiger's Curse series (To be honest, my knowledge of mythology from any culture comes from books). So, I really wanted to see more of a lot into this mythology and I ended up diving into a great book!

When Callie was a child in India, she was given a skull medallion. She didn't think anything of it and her family soon moved to America. When she encounters a demon and her family's lives become endangered, she realizes that she's not as normal as she thought. She's the reincarnation of Kali, a Hindu goddess, and she alone can prevent the end of the world. With the help of Shiv, one of the protectors of the goddess, she must find the Sword of Knowledge, which will help her save the world.

The whole entirety of this book was very unique and all the mythology was tied in very well with the story! At first glance, this seems like the usual teenage girl chosen to save the world and, yes, that is the major plot of the book, but there is so much more involved in the book! This book is very action-packed and has an overall adventure vibe. Also, the Indian mythology was very well explained and I was fully able to understand what was going on, even with my limited knowledge. It was also very interesting getting a look into Indian culture.

As far as romance, there was romance in this book, as to be expected. I'm a bit indifferent towards it. Sure, I want them to be together, but mostly because I expect it. Though, the romance does not distract from the plot and it is not annoying by any means!

The only thing that bothered me a little bit was the time. The pacing itself was very fast, but it made these happen far too quickly. A span of a month could happen in a few pages and I felt like some moments were brushed over far too quickly.

IN CONCLUSION
This was a very great start of a new trilogy! The ideas are really interesting and very well-done! The entire book is very fast-paced, action-packed, and full of adventure! I had issues with how time was dealt with and I was indifferent towards the romance, but I still enjoyed this read! If you would like to read a great book involving Indian mythology, I definitely recommend this book!
