I liked this one better than the first. The first book, A Great and Terrible Beauty is gory, weird, disgusting and VERY sinister. I was shocked this was even aimed at kids. Kids under fifteen SHOULD NOT be reading this book! Better editing could have been done and the book could have been summed up in 100 pages. I found her brother to be rather cruel and those Spence girls evil. This book doesn't change all that much and is pretty much the same as the first--though things are better explained as well as the strange occurences at the school and the recent violent death of a classmate. This is strictly for thril-seeking individuals who enjoy reading graphic descriptions of blood, nude women and hulf-human demons and fairies obsessed with sex. You need A LOT of stamina to get through this book.
