RELISH THE SEASON is a cute new holiday board book featuring Weenie. The story is told in choices between opposites as Weenie celebrates Christmas in a non-religious way.
What I loved: This is a really cute, rhyming book of opposites with Weenie making choices between playing outside (on a sled in the snow) or snuggling in (under a blanket by the fire) and other similar things. The illustrations are very simple with Weenie in the middle of the page, wearing/doing something related to the choices. Bright colors and holiday themes abound throughout. The rhyming text across pages is also pleasant to hear aloud and adds to the fun of the book. This will work well for toddlers and preschoolers who enjoy the character and the holiday season.
What left me wanting more: As a small thing, some of the terms are a bit unusual and feel a bit awkward in the rhyming scheme - they may just need additional context for little readers (such as celebrating giggly where Weenie is dressed as Santa). The beginning and end of the book has quite a bit of text too to add to the seasonality, which will work better for toddlers/preschoolers.
Final verdict: A delightful holiday-themed book of opposites, RELISH THE SEASON is a cute board book that will charm toddlers and preschoolers.
