So remarkable in fact that she stands out from all the other dragons at school and quickly becomes the most popular student in class, thanks to her unique abilities that other dragons don't seem to possess. But the principal is certain something is off about Rory, and she wants to uncover the truth about this star student.

From debut author-illustrator, Kathryn Rammell, comes a hilarious, upbeat story about accepting others for who they are, with a clever twist on the ugly duckling trope that is sure to make this a laugh-out-loud read!

Rory joins Dragon Academy and learns she is not like the other dragons. She doesn't fly like they do or eat what they eat. She's shaped differently from them too. But that won't stop her from succeeding, or so they believe. All the while, the teachers are trying to figure out why she isn't like them.

RORY THE REMARKABLE DRAGON is a silly yet adorable children's picture book. As the reader, we know Rory is a chicken, but the other dragons believe her differences make her remarkable. The pictures are so cute with simplicity, bold colors, and dark line work. The story is short and sweet, perfect for our younger readers. To me, it also expands their imagination as they envision the same things the dragons do.

Final Verdict: I would recommend this to children aged four and older who love dragons and stories full of humor. This book will have your little one smiling with each page they turn, wondering to see if Rory will be caught.

Rory the Remarkable Dragon is about Rory who is not like all the other dragons and stands out in the classroom with all the other dragons. Her unique abilities that other dragons don’t have make her stand out and become the most popular student in the class. The principal is suspicious though and is certain there is something off about Rory, will she uncover the truth about this remarkable dragon?

What I Liked: From the minute that I opened this book I just could not stop laughing at all the silly moments. I love that instead of signaling Rory out for being different and not a dragon, this book finds ways in which Rory’s abilities make her unique and popular with the other students. I love the moments in which you think the principal has figured it out, then read the ridiculous thing she comes up with.

The art style of this book also adds to the humorous moments as Rory isn’t even trying to look the part. I love that she stands out in the group of dragons but the story doesn’t focus on this. I appreciate how the author included several deeper messages throughout this book such as focusing on someone’s unique qualities and abilities rather than the things they can not do.

Final Verdict: Rory the Remarkable Dragon will have children laughing as they recognize that Rory is a chicken and not a dragon. They will enjoy the silly moments in which you worry that the principal has figured out Rory’s secret only to find that she goes in a completely different direction than expected.
