I will never be controlled again. A manipulative dragon shifter. A sexy phaetyn prince. Me? I shouldn’t even exist. With peace established in Verald, I should be free; Lord Tyrrik is liberated from his blood oath, after all. But the freedom in Verald is an illusion. If I remain, destruction will surely follow. As soon as I come into my powers, the blood-thirsty emperor of Draecon will know. Even now, he is hunting me. When a Phaetyn prince arrives promising safety, the solution seems perfect. A little too perfect. But is the objective of our group security or something more? Because everyone is telling me what my goals should be. Should I listen with my head – or my heart? I might not get a choice. Who do you trust when everyone has lied to you?

King Caletyvn asks Ryn, Dyter, and Tyrrik to go and try to make alliances for when they fight against the drae Emperor Draedyn. While traveling, they must be careful not to attract the unwanted attention of the emperor. After Ryn transforms, the emperor will feel her energy and come looking for her. Ryn still doesn't trust Tyrrik but needs him to help her control her drae side. Ryn doesn't know if she should trust Kamoi but wanted to learn more about her phaetyn side. Feedback

This was an amazing second entry into The Darkest Drae series. I honestly enjoyed this one way more than the first book. There is more story and plot to this book which heightens the interest. Ryn, Tyrrik, and Dyter must travel the land to try and form alliances against the evil Emperor Draedyn. They start by going to Zivost Forest where the phaetyn live. On the way there, Ryn’s transformation begins. I really enjoyed seeing Ryn come into both of her powers. Her transformation and learning her drae side was very absorbing. The color of the scales and the way they take over the body is something a reader can truly imagine. There is so much more development of this world because we get to see past Verald and harvest zone 7.
Ryn. Holy pancakes, can I just talk for a minute about how much I love her character? In all honesty, she is amazing. She has such a strong personality and her sense of humor had me smiling practically throughout the whole book. I love her relationship with Dyter and am glad we were able to get more of him in this book. And then there is Tyrrik. Since book one, I knew Tyrrik was going to be an amazing character. At some points it was really frustrating to read because you know Ryn and Tyrrik are supposed to be together. Ryn has to overcome her past and learn to trust him. We get more personality from each character and the reward is huge. All the of them work so well together to truly create a wonderful book.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Shadow Wings by Raye Wagner and Kelly St. Clare was an amazing read. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy. The story is rich and fun to read. There is always more action and snarky comments by Ryn. A growth in the characters relationship is truly rewarding. I highly recommend continuing the series with this book and cannot wait for book 3 to come out!

In SHADOW WINGS, it picks up right where BLOOD OATH left off. We continue to see Ryn trying to come into her skin and get used to her Drae and Paethyn heritage. She also struggles with getting her feet back on the ground after everything that's happened and to come to terms with the pain she's been through from loss and torture. It doesn't make things easier that the Emperor of Draecon is hunting her.

With the impending war, Ryn needs allies and they start to gather those they can. Tyrrick stays by her side and wants to help her where he can. He even opens up and Ryn learns a little more about him. Ryn is stubborn and isn't the easiest to get along with when she's throwing out snarky comments, but Tyirrick doesn't back down. I love these two characters in this one and I can't say that enough!

I thought the first one was good, but this one was even better! There's so much humor and character development in this one. We learn so much more in this one (don't want to give away amazing spoilers) and we even get to see the growth of the relationship between Ryn and Tyrrick. I hope there will be a lot more of them together in the third one! I love both of these characters and can't wait for the third!

Final Verdict: This is an incredible, in depth, humorous series that I didn't want to end. I would recommend it to fans of dragons and fantasy. I can't wait for the next one!
