I thought Shiver was an amazing book. I liked the POV's changing between Sam and Graces characters,to see what each of them is thinking. I also liked how the wolves are different in this book than in others I was a nice change. My favorite character was Isobel, I mean I love Sam and Grace but, Isobel is a very interesting character.

Move over vampires., it's time wolves got the spot light. And not just any wolves; werewolves. Let’s face it, regular wolves are great, but it’s that much better to think said majestic beast can either turn into a toned fella ready to sweep you off your feet or potentially stay bloodthirsty and rip your face off.

Maggie Stiefvater’s "Shiver" is the perfect example of such tension. There are multiple things I love about the wolves Stiefvater presents in the first book of her Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy. First, these guys don’t turn into crazy feral beasts of lore. Instead they just turn into regular ol’ wolves. That makes them that much sexier that they become a beautiful part of nature as opposed to something that is trying to destroy life.

Next, these guys ain’t trying to get up all in people’s business. They don’t have any beef with vampires, they’re just trying to lead their own wolfy lives. Furthermore, in sort of a twist in the werewolf genre, the Mercy Falls wolf pack in particular is trying to find a way to live in a world full of bloodthirsty humans who want nothing more than to see wolves dead. Who says werewolves have to be the bad guy?

Ultimately, what I love the most about the werewolves of "Shiver" is that Jacob Black doesn’t live among them. That’s because where Jacob roams Bella Swan is soon to follow and she is my least favorite literary character of all time. Stiefvater’s Grace is so much more headstrong and likable and it’s no wonder she can cruise just fine with a pack of wolves.
Good Points
Werewolves who are so much better than the vampire-hating, feral beast type you see elsewhere.
A heroine who is not nearly as whiny as Bella Swan.

Shiver, and all the Wolves of Mercy Falls books, I think, are the best books that Maggie Stiefvater has ever written. This book was the first book that had instant love that I liked, as the connection was very real, so much that I could actually feel it flying off the pages and into me. Maggie Stiefvater must have a lot of talent to able to write such an amazing book.

The things that I liked most about this book was that she made up a whole different side of werewolves, and that it was written in both Sam's and Grace's view. This new side of being werewolves was very different to any other werewolf books that I have read. I loved the idea of them shifting due to the temperature changes, it was so clever and peculiar. But it was also so sad that they have only limited numbers of years before they stayed a wolf forever, this made for a great plot.

Because Shiver was written in both Sam's and Grace's eyes, you got to feel more for both of them. If it was only written inn Grace's view, than you wouldn't be able to learn as much about Sam's past and emotions. I found this clever and its not very common in books. It made it more of a interesting read.

race is fascinated by the wolves in the woods behind her house; one yellow-eyed wolf in particular. Every winter, she watches him, but every summer, he disappears. Sam leads two lives. In winter, he stays in the frozen woods, with the protection of the pack. In summer, he has a few precious months to be human . . . until the cold makes him shift back again. When Grace and Sam finally meet, they realize they can't bear to be apart. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human - or risk losing himself, and Grace, for ever.

The characters are great, the plot is amazing, and the writing style is stunning, Shiver is one of my most favorite paranormal romance.

Wow. This is possibly one the best books I've read this year, and I've read quite a few so far. This is one of those heart-wrenching, tear-jerking books that leave you in an emotional wreck. Kind of. I actually read this in a car on a four-hour road trip with four other people, and I don't like being seen crying, so I had to HOLD IN THOSE TEARS. It hurt my throat. :(

Sam and Grace have developed a special relationship over the length of six long years that spans between two different species; one that's so fragile, it can be completely ruined with just one small change.

I loved the switch between the point of views. I'm a huge fan of these types of books, because sometimes, I just don't want to hear the entire story told by one person. It makes the novel more... round. It's more in-depth, and you feel into the book.

The werewolves in this book change with the seasons. When it's warm, they're human. When it's cold, they're wolves. This continues for some time, until the wolf eventually matures and remains a wolf forever. This seems to make Grace and Sam's separation inevitable. There is no known cure, and it looks like their love is doomed.

Maggie Stiefvater is just a wonderful writer. She incorporates poetry into the words, and also writes in a lyrical way. The relationship that developed between Grace and Sam didn't seem cheesy. It seemed very real, and complete, and one that you absolutely did not want to break!

Shiver.
The name of the book.
The name of what I did when I read it.
The author, Maggie Stiefvater, really captured everything in the book. From her vivid descriptions of the characters and settings, this book was a page-turner.
Grace, the main character, is in love with her wolf. It's been her wolf for awhile. The one way she can find him is because of his eyes. Those yellow eyes that seem to watch her. It wasn't until one day when Grace found him naked on her porch. Everybody's fantasy, right? To find a hot naked guy on your porch? Grace cared for Sam, the human wolf, and they later bonded. A typical love story, with a lot of twists, including Sam's last change before he's a permanent wolf. He'll never be human again and won't be able to physical be with Grace...
I recommend to this...everybody. Especially those wolf lovers.
*cough, cough* Team Jacob *cough, cough*.
You guys won't be disappoint.

I had some doubts about this book, only because I was a little tired of the whole werewolf craze going around, but I really enjoyed this book. This book still had werewolves in it but it added a little twist to it that was really good. I really loved Sam because, he was so amazingly sweet. Grace was so strong and I loved her for it. Isabel even grew on me after awhile. I was heartbroken when Sam told Grace what his parents to him, and I felt awful for Grace when she had to push Sam into the bathtub. Maggie Stiefvater did an amazing job with this book. No more team Jacob, I am 100% team Sam!!! I can't wait to meet my yellow eyed boy, with a head of black hair. I cannot wait until the next book comes out!!! Good job Maggie Stiefvater!!!!

When I was reading Shiver, I actually got shivers. hahaha. When I finished this book, I wanted to cry and smile and laugh at the same time. This is one of the sweetest love story I have EVER read. Maggie Stiefvater has a talant for writing such breath-taking love stories. I can barely write this review right now because I am so happy and sad. So beautiful.
