This really is one of the most beautiful stories I have ever read. It had me laughing, and it had me crying. It had me feeling so low, I was effected when I put the book down, yet so happy and hopeful for myself, that it left me smiley and in a bit of a dreamy state. It's just impossible for me to put into words just how incredibly moving I found Sing Me to Sleep. This book has effected me so deeply, it will stay with me forever. Just beautiful.
It’s hard to say why this book made such the emotionally impact it did on me. In part, it has to do with the character of Derek and what’s he’s hiding. What he goes though is so very heartbreaking, especially for Beth because just as she finds her inner beauty and strength, he must leave her. Angela shows with the character of Derek why some people are in our lives for only a short moment of time. Because Derek and Beth are so in love with one another, they are very intimate with one another. These two can’t stop kissing and touching. It’s handled very well, even when the topic of sex comes up.
Sing Me to Sleep is a book you easily find yourself involved in, living. Toward the end of the story I felt like I was there, astonished by the actions of those around me, feeling the same feelings the characters were experiencing. The tears sliding down my face proved my involvement.

Some Spoilers Ahead.
Sing Me to Sleep started off slow, but the last few chapters were a ride. A ride that had me in tears.
I was bored and anxious for a good part of this book because of Beth and Derek’s relationship. (Mostly Beth’s attitude). She was super clingy, and also the fact that she felt like she couldn’t live without him pissed me off. I hate girls who act as if their world revolves around their relationship.
Reality check: it doesn’t.
And then to just throw poor Scott under the bus! He was there for her when no one else was and then once she gets a boyfriend (and some freaking eyeliner), it’s like he doesn’t even exist. Another thing I dislike that people do in relationships.
Beth was also the most clueless person I have ever read about. Even I picked up on the fact that Derek was sick! (Although, I was surprised about what he had and how that would end.) Furthermore, after Derek died, Beth said something about “leaving me was better” because she was still feeling like she was “The Beast. OH MY GOD! Dude, his death was NOT about you!
Anyways, I went into this book thinking it was about music. It was about way more and made me cry more than I would have liked too.

This book was stressful. It suffers from the bad movie disorder, you
know, where everyone can tell what's going on, it's right in the
character's face but she, sweet little Beth, is far too busy obsessing about
the guy and her own problems to figure out what was happening. And
then, when you have like 20 pages to go, they try and placate everything
when the character says "It seems so obvious now, how was I so blind"
or something like that. Which of course, makes it fall into the not
believable, I-Don't-Buy-It kind.
I liked the story, a little too depressing for my taste, but
interesting. But the fact that Beth spent so much time obsessing inside
her box (as in, she only thought of one possibility) makes it less of an
enjoying read. I felt anxious at first about when she would find out,
and rushed through the pages, but as chapters kept flying by, I just
certified I hated her as a character. She was outrageously clingy,
stupid and just plain boring. I have no idea what Derek or Scott liked
about her besides her voice and her beastly-turned-super-model looks or
whatever. The character development fell flat. It's like I read the
whole book and I don't know any of them. Well, I do know Beth, I just
wish I didn't. Plus, the book was about so many things that I'm not sure

Heartbreaking, sad and touching,
thats what Sing me to Sleep is. In this beautiful and powerful
story we get the chance to meet Beth aka The Beast. Shes ugly, damn
ugly, she has only one friend, Scott, and some guys in
school always bully her.

I dont usually like stories
with love triangles like Edward-Bella-Jacob, but Angela manages it in
such a touching way that you totally get the characters.

Like I said before, SMTS is a very
powerful, gripping book, Beths insecurity is something a lot of girls
can relate to, not to feel worthy of being loved. And while the story
develops you are with the lump on your throat for a lot of reasons and
in the end is nearly impossible not to cry or at least sniff, a lot.

The story is very well constructed, I
loved the entire choir world thing, and I wish I could be there
listening to them singing. It also has very well developed characters
and the final part is very beautiful.

Something I really liked is that you can see the pureness of a
magic love rising in front of your eyes, and that makes it unique, is
very romantic, but no mushy, just enough to feel compelled by the story.
