Young pirates will love Small Saul. Saul loves the sea and after being rejected by the Navy, he signs up for Pirate College. Once he graduates and gets a job on a real pirate ship, the other pirates notice that he does things a little different. When Saul was gone, the other pirates, even the captain, miss him. They realize that although Saul wasn't your typical pirate he was certainly special in his own way.

This story has a great message behind it. One of my favorite lines in the book is "Just like treasure, Small Saul was rare." What a powerful line.

I will be using this one in my classroom this year.
Good Points
Great to point out that everyone is important, even if they do things a little different.
