i cried a lot in this book and it seams as though in many parts they wre tears of joy it makes me quiver with a fear when she finds a man siting in the red chair and also in this books extremely sad ending makes me want to crawl under a rock and read on and on about heidi's life after the ending and well its a emotional roller coaster, so b. it, and you learn a valuable lesson from it "some things in life you just can't know" i recomend this completely well written book (by the auther of regular guy) to anyone who dares to explore the hidden world around you and heidi as she sets of to find her past somthining everbody can just ask about , heidi must find out herself.

"So B. It?What kind of title is that?"
That's what I first thought when I saw the book at the library. My mom was in a hurry, and was irritating me by telling me to hurry up,so I just grabbed the book and went to the car.I didn't read the summary on the back cover, didn't even LOOK at the book the whole ride, just flopped it on the front seat.
As I began to read,I was intrigued by the story and just couldn't put it down for even a second.(That is,until Dad took the book to his room and snatched away the flashlight).
This incredible story called as So B. It starts out with Heidi talking about her disabled mother. She seems to know everything about Mama-except her past. This increduously lucky 12-year old starts to get infinetly curious when Mama starts to say a word nobody seems to know the meaning of-"soof."Heidi gets even more curious when she develops film from an old camera she finds in a drawer and sets of on a cross-country bus trip to find "soof."This book has a depressing, powerful, and meaningful ending, sure to
touch almost anyone.

Heidi It has always wondered about her life, her origin, and her family. Living with her mentally disabled mother that only knows twenty-three words and with her neighbor, Bernadette, who has agoraphobia, she has not met her grandmother (if she has one) and never found out the truth about her mother's past.
With Bernadette having agoraphobia, she can't leave the apartment. So Heidi does the grocery shopping, taking the garbage out, etc.
Bernadette homeschooled Heidi in their Reno, Nevada apartment so they spent most of their time together while Mama colored in her coloring books and slept.
Heidi had heard the story of her mother a thousand times but never got sick of hearing it.
Twelve years ago, Mama came to Bernie's apartment door with a small baby in her arms, crying.
Bernie took them in and cared for them. She asked Mama what her name was.
"Heidi,"She said pointing to the baby. "Me, So Be It."
Mama always said a strange word, "Soof." Heidi started thought about it and it tortured her not knowing what it meant.
After rummaging through closets and drawers, Heidi found a camera, with the film used up.
She developed the film and found pictures that answered her question, "Where did Mom and I come from?" She had to find this place. She needed to go find it. What was "soof"?

This story is truly something great. The charachters journey to becoming a fully realized person who understands herself and her world is amazing. I never really cry at books but i cried when i read about this girl's love and the sacrifices she makes for her and her family and the horrible yet amazing story of her mother. This a perfect mother daughter read. This a special read that will stick in your mind long after the final page is done.

So B. It is the type of book where you quickly have to suspend your disbelief, but it makes it worthwhile in doing so. Young Heidi lives with her severely mentally retarded mother and a guardian who is scared to leave the house. Heidi plays a big role in the household as the only one who can go out and be trusted to make purchases (or to win money from the nearby slot machine). But when some old photos give her a hint into her mother's past, she takes a cross-country journey to see if she can find out where she belongs.
The characters are what makes this book work. Heidi is a strong narrator, and her quest is compelling enough to carry the story, which has a fairy-tale like feel to it.

I'm hear to tell you about So.B.It. The setting of this story is in Navada. IT started when Heidi's grandmother got hit by a bus. Heidi's mother needed help because she was mentally disabled. Her mother ran to an old apartment. A woman called Bernie answered the door and ended up taking care of them. When Heidi was 12 she went on an adventure to Liberty to learn about her past. Read the book to find out about the end.

This book is so wonderful. I wonder how Sarah Weeks came up with such a great story. So B. It takes you on the adventure of a girl who tires to solve the mystery of her mom's unknown word "soof". It love the description of how Heidi and Bernadette live and deal with her mother. Heidi has so much respect for her mother-it's very touching. A very inspiring story.

This novel was an amazing story that led you willingly to the very last page where there you would be dissapointed to lead the very last words on page 243. I strongly reccomend thsi book, as it taught me lessons and advice that I could use in my life to make me a better person. It was a great book, especially when you discovered Heidi's hidden past!
