In this book, Alanna is truly a Lioness. She has fought in countless bloody battles, and all her deeds are legendary, but her gender still remains a mystery. The title of the book is truly deserving, as Alanna has gone on a rampant. I think this book is simply amazing.

Having achieved her dream of becoming the first female knight errant, Alanna of Trebond is not sure what to do next. She has triumphed in countless bloody battles, and her adventures are already legendary. Perhaps being a knight errant is not all that Alanna needs....But Alanna must push her uncertainty aside when she is challenged with the impossible. She must recover the Dominion Jewel, a legendary gem with enormous power for good -- but only in the right hands. And she must work fast. Tortall is in great danger, and Alanna's arch-enemy, Duke Roger, is back -- and more powerful than ever. In this final book of the Song of the Lioness quartet, Alanna discovers through fierce combat and ceaseless searching that she indeed has a future worthy of her mythic past -- both as a warrior and as a woman.

This not only proves that Alanna is amazing, it also proves that a women is just as strong as any man, maybe even more. Though this is the end of the Song of the Lioness quartet, they are many more after this that include her in them, but you hardly ever see them, which is slightly disappointing.

But these, are in no way, disappointing. I recommend it to girls and women alike, if they want a read that proves that being a women is like being a warrior.

Alanna has just a few more details to take care of. As she sets out to find the dominion jewel for her prince, she meets a shang warrior, and a few unexpected people. Alanna's final chapter end on a somewhat happy note, and the ending is actually satisfying. Alanna's last fight isnt quite over yet, as Pierce leads on to another few quartets involving similar characters.

Lioness Rampant, the final book in the lioness trilogy was excellent, sending Alanna on her greatest adventure yet. Pierce continues to develop the trials that Alanna must face, and does it with the utmost of her skill.

In the final installment of the Song of the Lioness Quatret, Alanna is on a quest to find the Dominion Jewel, which is a magical artifact of great power, so when she goes back home she isn't as scorned and will being honor upon her King.
Things don't go as planned. Alanna and her burly friend Corman pick up a Shang warrior..which is a immensley trained warrior trained in all weapons and Hand fighting as well as a runaway princess and her companions.
When Alanna finds out that the King had dies and that the Prince, her friend, is to become King. Alanna must go back home.
This book is one of my favorites and all Tamora Pierce fans will enjoy it.

Talk about bad memories coming back to haunt you. Only for poor Alanna it's more than a memory. Alanna's twin bro thom raises her arch enemy back from the dead. lol. Now Alanna has to deal with Duke Roger of Conte again. Yes there's no misprints. Not only does he get all his land back he is also free. He wasn't punished. The king made a fatal mistake. Not only does Alanna not able to use magic against him this time but she also loses 2 very important people in her life. Who is it? Is it Myles her adopted father. Liam Ironarm her teacher in the Shang arts not to mention past lover. Maybe Jonathan her King and old boyfriend. Or even Thom her twin brother. This is not a change that will be forgotten.

Alanna of Trebond and Olau is back as the Lioness of Tortall in Song of the Lioness: Lioness Rampant by Tamora Pierce. She’s ever fierce, brave, and persevering, just as in the other novels of the Song of the Lioness. Alanna is out of the Bloody Hawk, having trained 3 inhabitants to be shaman. She has refused marriage with Prince Jonathan and is not sure what will become of her life. Alanna does know that she wants to prove once and for all that she can be a great knight. So, she sets off with Coram and eventually the Shang Dragon, Liam (who becomes a lover of Alanna’s), to find the Dominion Jewel. This gem will help Tortall prosper and become very happy. They meet up with the Warlord’s daughter and princess, Thayet, along with her “bodyguard,” Buri. Alanna goes off on her own in a snowstorm and finds the jewel on her own. She becomes ill for awhile and is greeted by friends. Soon, however, Alanna’s dead arch-enemy is reincarnated by her own brother, Thom. A clan and himself have plans for Jonathan. An evil person named Claw also wants a piece of Jonathan to make himself the leader. By the way, Queen Lianne and King Roald have died. Therefore, Jonathan must become king. Will Alanna and her friends be able to find out Duke Roger and Claw’s plans before it is too late? Will Alanna find love? Rediscover the truths and fantasies of Tortall in Song of the Lioness: Lioness Rampant today!

I loved reading Song of the Lioness: Lioness Rampant. Alanna was at her strongest in this story. My favorite parts are when she and Liam find they have feelings for one another and when Alanna is searching for the Dominion Jewel on her own. She is suffering and using her Gift. Alanna’s terrifying moments always bring success and suspense. I would recommend this novel in the Song of the Lioness series to young adult girls 14 and up.

If you enjoyed reading the Song of the Lioness quartet, you will enjoy other books by Tamora Pierce such as the Protector of the Small quartet, The Immortals quartet, Circle of Magic, The Circle Opens, and more. My personal favorites are in the Protector of the Small. Happy reading!
