I think the idea of Alanna training in the desert is a very interesting idea, and it made me think a lot more about the reasons why things were happening. Alanna still fights with the on going saga with her gender, and she is on the winning side. I feel that she has proved her worth, over and over, but not all see it that way.

I think this book is truly stunning, with powerful romances, battles to the death and a never-ending fight with the forces of evil, this book is will blow your mind.

The Woman who Rides like a Man was another great book in the Lioness Quartet series, taking its readers into the vast desert of Tortall, where Alanna must learn to cope with the ways of the desert people and with becoming the first female shaman. Excellent is the only word to describe it.

Alanna, shortly after her friends and the castle finding that she is a girl goes far into the bahzir desert obvoiusly meeting the bazhir tribe. She battles the shaman Hakim and becomes one because she wins. She then helps decrease sexism around the tribe.

Song of the Lioness: The Woman Who Rides Like a Man is a very fun book. Alanna's story coninues in this quick, but amazing tale. Alanna is patrolling the Great Southern Desert, she is attacked with Coram, but she is taken to the Bazhir's Bloody Hawk tribe. She kills the leader, the shaman Akhnan Ibn Nazzir, and becomes the shaman herself. She must raise a new shaman. She trains Kourrem, Ishak, and Kara, Kourrem and Kara are girls. Before Alanna, there haven't been any female shamans. Kourrem and Kara would be perfect. Ishak is somewhat egotistical. Who will turn out the best?


Alanna's love continues with Jonathan and George. Jonathan proposes to her for marriage. However, she is not sure he wants her for the right reasons. Will she accept or deny? Also, Alanna must deal with her love for George. Who will she choose?


This book kept me going for a long time. I read it in a few hours, but I liked it a lot. Alanna has grown up and must deal more so than ever, taking responsiblity for her actions. Song of the Lioness: The Woman Who Rides Like a Man is recommended for young adult girls who like fantasy!
