I really liked this book because it was really vivid. You could feel the main characters pain when she got raped. I thought it was a great book that everyone should read if they are feeling bad about themselves.

This book was very good. it is about a girl who is rapped and how she deals with it. At times this book made me mad because you could tell something was wrong but no body was doing any thing about it. she lost all her friends, because the called the cops on the end of summer party and her parents are blaming it on a being a teenager. so the only one left to help her is herself, but first she most find her voice to confront her rapper. it is a really good book.

Since my older sister works for the R.A.A.P (rape assistance and awareness program) in Denver, she tells me a lot about rape. When I picked up this book and found out that the main character is a rape victim I instantly knew that I had to read it. Speak is the BEST book I have ever read. I would rate it a 10 if I could. I don't know if I could go through something like that. I really admire Laurie Halse Anderson for writing about a big issues that not that many authors write about. Since the first time that I picked it up I have read it 4 times and I don't know when I'll stop!!!!!!!

Summary: Last summer Melinda Sordino was involved in a life changing experience at a high school party. In a panic she called the police but no one knew why she called. Now no one wil talk to her. She goes through most of her freshman year with people harassing her about last summer. Finally, her secret of why she called the police is out.

Opinion: My favorite character in speak was Melinda Sordino. I liked the way she overcame all her problems. She spent most of her freshman year alone but never quit school. I enjoyed this book mainly beacause the main character was the same age as me and I could relate to her problems.

Recomendations: I would recomend this book to teenage girls because they would probably relate to it very well because the main character has problems at school and home that normal teenagers would have in real life.

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson is very enjoyable to read because it was a girl in the ninth grade and her life in the ninth grade. This novel is very interesting and enjoyable. Reading this novel is a definite positive because it relates to problems that teenage girls(sometimes boys)go through. The characters in the book seemed very real.

One of my favorite characters is Melinda. She is the main character of the book, everything that happens to her seems as though it can, and it does, happen in the world everyday. Melinda has many problems that she has kept from her parents, friends, and teachers for about a whole year. She is very courageous to go through one school year having one friend, and even though she feels she is a failure at times she still lives through those rough times.

Laurie H. Anderson does a great job creating the characters of the book Speak. They seem like the kind of people that walk down the hall ways everday. I would definitely recommend this boo! k to all me friends. They would read it because the context is very readable and just the whole book is wonderful. From reading this novel I learned that your true friends will always be on your side through good times and bad times. I experienced from reading this novel that without friends ones life is incomplete. This book was awesome and teh author should be really proud of it!
