When Reed Paine is sent to a secret detention school for teens whose parents are branded enemies of the state, he doesn’t expect to find friendship – especially after coming face to face with Riley Paca, a girl who has every reason to hate him.

But when Reed, Riley and a few others start reading the old books they find in tunnels under the school, they begin to question what they are taught about the last days of America and the gov-ernment that has risen in its place.

Then the government decides to sell the Liberty Bell and Reed and his friends risk everything to steal it – to take back their history and the liberty that has been stolen from them.

Need an adventure to get lost in? Read this book!! It is gripping from beginning to end with great character development and exciting story line. Jennifer Froelich has written other books, Dream of Me and A Place Between Breaths. Both were engaging and so imaginative! But Stealing Liberty is my favorite so far. My kids all loved it too! One of those books that had me doing my chores quickly so I could sit and read!!

I am amazed as to how versatile Jennifer Froelich is as an author. Each book is so creative and unique and this one certainly did not disappoint. I found myself having difficulty putting it down and it was difficult to stop thinking about it after having to put it down. The riveting plot, action, and well-developed characters made me find myself not wanting it to end. I rooted for the characters as I related to their emotions (even when I did not necessarily like them). This book caused me to feel even more pride about our freedom and I loved the thread of friendship, unity, and dedication to a noble cause. I would love to see these themes and characters played out on the big screen!

Hidden underneath the rubble and remains of a burned out school library, lies a treasure - a real library that holds hope for the future and the truth about a past that was free. Though Reed and Xoey and their friends are not free, living like prisoners in a school designed to indoctrinate them and punish them for their parents' beliefs and actions, they learn that uniting and trusting each other will be the first step in making their escape. And when they learn about the precious thing that has been stolen from them, they realize they will each go farther than they ever imagined, to fight to steal it back. Fantastic, exciting book! You won't forget this one!
