The last thing Wendy Darling wants to do is grow up, so she decides to escape to Neverland, the world from her stories. But in this story, instead of meeting Peter Pan, Wendy bribes Captain Hook to take her away to Neverland. Once there, she meets Tink and the Lost Boys, but still no Peter Pan. He's still off looking for his shadow because he hasn't felt the same without it. Wendy and Tink have to work together to find him because Hook wants to destroy all of Neverland. Peter Pan is the key to stopping Hook, or is he?
STRAIGHT ON TILL MORNING explores the familiar world of Peter Pan using a different approach compared to the classic we've come to love. In this one, Wendy kindles a deeper friendship with Tinkerbell, and the two represent strong female leads together. Peter Pan represents selfish youth and plays a much smaller part in this twisted tale. And there's even a Lost Girl thrown into the mix. I love the graphic novel format because it brings the story to life and I love the art-style of the illustrator. The author also explores more about the power of words which is different from the classic story too. I like how they highlight how strong a story can be and the impact it can have on others.
Final Verdict: This is honestly my first Twisted Tale and it's interesting to see what would happen if an author changes one detail in a story. It truly brings magic to a book knowing that it's all in the details. I would recommend this to young adults aged 12 and up who love Peter Pan, strong female leads, and adventure.
