Just as fun as the first! Super Turbo vs. the Flying Ninja Squirrels by Edgar Powers is the second book in the graphic novel series about the Superpet Superhero League. Classroom pets by day and superheroes at night, Turbo and his friends are investigating a series of mysterious noises coming from the empty halls of the school. Written for newly independent readers, Super Turbo will delight and engage kids of all ages.

In this installment of the series, Whiskerface has hatched a new plan to take over the school after stealing the Golden Acorn from the secretive Flying Ninja Squirrels. The only problem with his plan is that the acorn is missing. Turbo and his friends are having their weekly superhero meeting when they decide to check out the volcanoes in the science lab with Professor Turtle. Professor Turtle is moving faster than usual, so fast the other superpets are having a hard time keeping up with him.

I like the attention to detail and how the author subtly points the reader in the direction of the mystery surrounding the Golden Acorn. The illustrations and simple language are engaging and entertaining. There are also well delineated chapters, making it easy to find stopping spots for younger readers who are not quite ready to finish in one sitting.

Overall, I highly recommend the series to readers who enjoy adventure and battles of good vs. evil.
