In 1980, a team of amateur hockey players, mostly teenagers, stunned the world when the beat the superb Russian team in the Winter Olympics. U.S. would go on to win the gold, and became America's sweethearts for a brief period when Americans needed something to smile about. This book details not only the 1980 games, but also the lives of the players and their coach, both before and after their (in some cases short-lived) fame.
This was a truly enjoyable book that gave some great insight into one of the most well-known underdog championships. If you're a hockey fan, enjoyed the Disney movie "Miracle," or are just looking for a good story, you should definitely read this book.
