What worked: I'm a huge fan of the Lux series and LOVE Daemon. The relationship between Daemon and Kat is sizzling hot. I loved the first book in the new series, intrigued on who Evie might really be and why at first stand-offish Luc was so attracted to her.

There's lots of tension and action throughout THE BURNING SHADOW. Readers find out more about Evie's mysterious past and what link her mother had in all of it. Daemon appears later in the book to help Luc and Evie out. Some of the scenes feel like they came right out of the Avengers series, only in this case aliens with super powers and hybrids that either want to destroy the Earth or help.

The relationship between Luc and Evie didn't feel as organic as the one between Daemon and Kat. At times it felt almost the same. I really wanted to believe in Luc and Evie's love, but Luc at times felt almost stalkish. Still, he's there for her, regardless when she tries to deny her true feelings for him. She doesn't know if they in fact had a relationship before she lost her memories and is intrigued to find out more. Then there are the vivid memories of a past that eludes her and a horrific power that tries to come out.

There's also a secret government organization set out to destroy the Lux and Origins. Plus, a flu-like virus that mutates into grisly results.

What worked for me was the thriller part of the novel on what really was behind the Daedalus Project. When people start dying and it's blamed on the Luxen, the real truth is frightening and chilling. So is the huge reveal at the end of the novel. **No fair on that cliffhanger ending!

Fast-paced, engaging, thrilling alien adventure that continues the saga of Evie and Luc and the truth behind her past. Add romance, hot aliens, and a secret organization. What's not to like?
Good Points
1. Fast-paced continuation in the spin-off Lux series
2. Major huge reveal at the end **No, I won't spoil it for you!
