The Clandestine Protectors is the story of a fourteen year-old Maeve Bradley, an awkward teen who has yet to find her place in the small town of Tate, Texas.
Maeve’s life suddenly changes when her creative writing teacher, Mr. Porter gives her a black book to “write the truth in”. Overnight Maeve’s world is turned upside down. Mr. Porter has disappeared but has left behind clues. Together with her friend, Theo they begin to piece together information about a secret club.
Along the way, they run into a new family that has moved to town. They have a son name Than, who stands out against other boys from Tate. Maeve feels that there is darkness in him, but she is pulled into his web.
Meanwhile, Theo and Maeve’s relationship turns into something more than friendship. Will they find all six members of a protective society? Will Maeve be able to choose Theo over Than?
Young adults have a difficult time deciding who they are. This book reflects this journey as well as a darker side, good versus evil.
