She's fast. She's feisty. And she outsmarted that sly fox in her boisterous debut. Now the gingerbread girl is back with a new batch of friends - the animal crackers! They don't want to listen to the Gingerbread Girl's advice, even though she is one smart cookie. But they'd better watch it, or they'll all become treats for that trickster fox. With fun twists on the classic refrain plus big, candy-colored illustrations, this is one sweet treat.

This is a book that combines two of my favorite things: reading and gingerbread people. I recently picked this book up at a book fair and was delighted to hear as I walked around the shelves of books how much everyone, children and adults, loved this story. When I got home and read the entire story, I couldn't have been happier with my purchase.

The story of the Gingerbread Girl takes a fun twist on the classic story. On her birthday, the Gingerbread Girl receives a box of animal crackers. Once she opens the box the adventure begins. The repetitive parts of the story will have even the youngest readers chanting along.

I bought this book as a gift for my young daughter and I enjoy it so much I think I will purchase another copy for my classroom. I also plan on adding Lisa Ernst's first book in this series, The Gingerbread Girl, to my collection as well.

If you have a little girl in your life, add this one to their bookshelf. I am sure they will love it.
Good Points
Rhythmic and repetitive that young readers will love.
