The second I started reading The Girl Who Ignored Ghosts, I was completely intrigued and pulled into the story. Kat Preston, a prep school junior, must deny that ghosts, the unbelievables, exist to protect herself from them. After shutting them out for so long, they are suddenly back in her life when she is sent to Castle Creighton to try and solve a double murder mystery for a research project. Soon Kat learns that the ghost who tried to steal her life and the one who saved her were both there the night of the murder of Cassie Mallory and Sebastian Radcliffe, so she knows that she must go and let the unbelievables reenter he life again. Not long after arriving, Kat and her research partner Evan soon time travel through a magic mirror to the night of the murder, and must get back to their own time before their souls slip away.
The farther the story goes along, we see how much the past and present are intertwined. In both past and present we see betrayal and hurt, curses, and of course many unbelievables. The idea of the unbelievables was fresh and original. The characters were very relatable, and the more I read, I felt like they were old friends of mine. I couldn't put this book down, with all the twists and turns, I couldn't wait to see what more would be revealed about the night of the murder and how it affected the present. This books is something everyone would enjoy reading, no matter what their age. I definitely believe in the unbelievables and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book! Maybe some romance between Kat and Evan, and of course more riveting plot twists! Love this book!
