Summary: Jonas lives in a perfect world. There are many rules to follow to keep everything under control. When you turn 12, you are given a special job which will be your occupation for the rest of your life. Jonas has no idea what the committee will choose for him. To Jonas' surprise, he is given a very special job, which is also very rare. He is the most important person in the community, whos job is to give people memories. Jonas is The Giver.
Opinion: I enjoyed this book very much. Even though I do not like science fiction books, I definatly liked this book. My favorite character was Jonas. I could really relate to him because he was about my own age. THis book was surprising, interesting, and well-written.
Recommendation: I would recommend this book to both boys and girls between the ages of 11-14. I think they would enjoy this book because Jonas is about their own age and it's easy to understand what he's thinking and feeling.
