Daines family has just been killed by raiders, so she sets off to find work in nearby Tortall. There she meet Onua, a Kmir in charge of the horses for the Queens Riders. Daine loves horses, and quickly agrees to help bring the ponies to the capital. On the road they meet strange monsters and come in contact with powerful magicians. Is it possible that the Immortals have escaped the Divine Realms? And what does that mean for the humans? A great beginning for a fantasy quartet, filled with the same great plots, characters, and writing Tamora Pierce is famous for.

Wild Magic, the next series in the Tortall series is great, creating a young girl into a Wild Mage as Pierce creates the book. Pierce continues to write fantasy greatly, ensuring that many other readers will continue to read her books. Keep it up Tamora!

"Wild Magic" is one of my favorite books by Tamora Pierce. It's about a girl trying to escape her past but who is forced to confront it. She has magical powers within her that have rarely been seen before and she has a gift that can help animals. She is trained by the royals of Tortall and is given a life she could only have dreamed of. With her help battles are won by Tortall and the Immortals are banished to the realms they were once from. It's a great book for girls and I urge you to read it, once you do I'm sure you'll be hooked and want to read other books by Tamora Pierce.

Weel, this author is one of my favorite authora. This particular book is the first in the series about Daine, and I think it is one of the best.
The story itself is exciting, keeps introducing something new - I have read this books dozens of times and it still gets me into it and excited.
There are a lot of heroes here, although there is only one main heroine.
Excellent book, and I highly recommend it.

These 4 books, Wild Magic, Wolf Speaker, THe Emperor Mage, and In The Realms Of The Gods, are great. They are just as good, if not better than, the Lioness quartet. They are about a young girl named Daine, who is just discovering her wild magic, and learning how to use it. The caracters are all great, and you won't want to stop reading until you finish all 4 books!
