Balthazar “Balt” Tymlyn – a fourteen-year-old, scientific genius – has jury-rigged and programmed his touch-screen phone, enabling it to detect and represent thoughts from ordinary brain exhaust. Teaming with his friends, Michael Watson and Gina Cavalone, Balt hopes to use his amazing invention – The Mynd-Fynd Machine – to investigate mysteries and help others in need. Unaware, however, Balt is secretly targeted by a physically-enhanced, cyber-assisted agent for Frack Undermining, Inc. Stephanos Kôbraden and his employer, Mr. Frack, are determined to get their hands on the mind-finding technology for their own, highly-suspect purposes. When Kôbraden’s initial, covert approach meets with a series of unexpected outcomes, he besieges Tymlyn directly and captures the device. To get it back, Balt and his friends must outthink their opponent and use every personal advantage they can muster.

Of course I like the book... I wrote it. Still, when my twelve-year-old son began reading it and was eager to finish it, I knew it had passed a significant test. Several of his friends have also read it, and they've all enjoyed it. The story is intriguing, thought-provoking, and just plain fun. At least, that's the impression I get from the feedback I've received so far. I think you'll agree.
Good Points
The characters are memorable.
