Kazunomiya is a 12 year old girl who is growing up in Japan. She is a half-brother of the Emperor Komei, so she is also a princess. But, in the story, it shows just how bad being a royal actually is. Kazunomiya talks of the scheming Empress Mother and her malicious intentions to banish Kazunomiya's mother. And the worst part of Kazunomiya's life is that she can not marry her true love. Her life is sad in some ways, but also cheerful. I thought the book was very interesting.
