We all know the story here. The Three Little Pigs is one of the most common tales we hear as children. It's from a time when fairy-tales were also designed to scare children a little bit. The scary bits were covered up by a pleasing rhythm to the words and a whole lot of fun.

This book is no different than that. It's a lot of fun with colorful images and lines that make kids giggle as they say them. Kids will love this. It couldn't quite hold the attention of the two-year-old I read it with, but she was almost there. The small, compact style of the book makes it super easy for little hands to hold and flip through because at that age they want to start doing everything themselves.

As someone who loves the ocean and everything in it, I had mixed emotions about the theme of the retelling. The shark in the book is frightening as he terrorizes the fish and that makes me give pause before reading it too many times to kids so young. Teaching them to be afraid of things in the ocean is not something I am for.

That being said, there is a lot of enjoyment to be had while reading this book.

This book is like the three little pigs.  Three little fish make their homes in the ocean, the first one with seaweed, the second with sand and the third in an old boat. When the big bad shark demands to be let in they reply "not by the skin of my finny fin fin."  So the shark munches and crunches and smashes the houses in.  This continues until all three fish are in the old boat and the shark tries to get in, resulting in funny results.  This is a nice book for little ones
