The Truth About Forever
User reviews
Macy Queen is looking forward to a long and, boring summer. Her boyfriend is going away to a math camp. Shes stuck with a dull-as-dishwater job at the library. And shell spend all of her free time studying for the SATs or grieving silently unexpected death. But everything changes when Macy is  out at one of her mothers open house events, and she meets the chaotic Wish Catering crew. Before long, Macy joins the Wish team. She loves everything about the work and the people. But the best thing about Wish is Wesartistic, insightful, and understanding Weswho gets Macy to look at life in a whole new way, and really start living it.
Macy lives with her mom and has another sister who is already married. her father past a year or so earlier from a heart attak. she takes a job at the library as a favor to her to her boyfriend but than quits after her two coworkers get on her nerves. after that she takes a job catering were she mets wes. it turns out they both have stuff in common than they ever imagined. as macy and wes start getting to know each other macy finds herself facing some repressed feelings.
opinion i really loved the book and the characters in it. my favorite part was when wes saw Macy and her ex boyfriend talking, at the party, and walked away but than macy ran after him to kiis him. though i liked the book i really got annoyed by macy's exboyfriend. and i think that macy was so studious in the beginning so she wouldn't have to face the feelings from her dads death. i could really emphasice with her character because one minute her life was full of joy and she lived in a family house and the next minute she lives in a quiet house with her life changing dratically. i really hope u guys get a chance to read this book.
when i started to read this book, i was a little sad, and i hate sad books, i like happy and romantic books, but when i started to read this book, i fell in love. this book shows how hard it is to be your self after being not your self for a long time.. for falling in love with the person you cant be with forever, and for always being safe and never having fun after a bad thing happend in your family. Sarah Dessen made the characters likable and lovably, expecially Wes, my favorite character. Definently read this book, its AMAZING!
with lots of love,,

Macy Queen lives in a big house, goes to a great school, and has a boyfriend with the potential of a next Alburt Einstein. However, behind the fake smile is a girl who misses her father. Macy's father died of a heart attach a year ago, and while her mother and her pretend they are "fine, just fine." Macy can't help but be torn between the grief and the self-guilt. However, a boy named Wes meets Macy, she's never really been the type for Artists, so this should be different.
Sarah Dessen throws another great novel at the reader. The Truth About Forever is a great story with an excellent message. Dessen writes more novels alike this one, however this is in the top 3. I would recommend this book for ages 13-18. Not only has this story caught my attention about love and loss, I can't wait to see what else Dessen has in store for her new novels.
Review:
The Truth About Forever, by Sarah Dessen, is one of my favorite books,
written by one of my favorite authors! The entire time I was reading
this intriguing story, I felt like I was seeing the world through
Macy's eyes and stepping into her shoes. Sarah Dessen's writing is so
clear and vibrant, each sentence is full of detail. I fell in love with
Wes's character from the very beginning of the novel. Even though the
ending was some-what predictable, the charming characters and
interesting plot will keep readers flipping through pages, anxious to
see what will happen next. I could re-read this novel over and over for
many years to come.
Quote:
"Once, I didn't care so much about appearances. I knew the basics: that
I was somewhat short for my age, with a round face, brown eyes, and
faint freckles across my nose that had been prominent, but now you had
to lean in close to see. I had blonde hair that got lighter in the
summer time, slightly green if I swam too much, which didn't bother me
since I was a total track rat, the kind of girl to whom the word
hairstyle was defined as always having a ponytail elastic on her wrist.
I'd never cared about how my body or I looked -- what mattered was what
it could do and how fast it could go. But part of my new perfect act
was my appearance. If I wanted people to see me as calm and collected,
together, I had to look the part."

Macy's summer
stretches before her, carefully planned and outlined. She will spend
her days sitting at the library information desk. She will spend her
evenings studying for the SATs. Spare time will be used to help her
obsessive mother prepare for the big opening of the townhouse section
of her luxury development.
But Macy's plans don't anticipate a surprising and chaotic job with
Wish Catering, a motley crew of new friends, or . . . Wes. Tattooed,
artistic, anything-but-expected Wes. He doesn't fit Macy's life at all
so why does she feel so comfortable with him? So . . . happy? What is
it about him that makes her let down her guard and finally talk about
how much she misses her father, who died before her eyes the year
before?
Sarah
Dessen delivers a page-turning novel that carries readers on a roller
coaster of denial, grief, comfort, and love as we watch a broken but
resilient girl pick up the pieces of her life and fit them back
together.
The second I finished this book I smacked my forehead.
Why? Because I hadn't read this book earlier! If you haven't read this
novel yet, GO GET IT!
If someone ever asks me if a book has ever
changed my life then I will tell them, not missing a beat, "The Truth
About Forever" by Sarah Dessen. This book is not only entertaining, it
really makes you see life in a different perspective and ask yourself
if this is the way you want to spend your life.
I have both
laughed and cried while reading this book, both releasing some sort of
water (I have a bad habit of spitting while laughing) which has been
terrible for my book. I have read the last paragraph of this novel so
many times that I have lost count. Here it is now (don't worry, no
spoilers!):
"That was the
thing. You just never knew. Forever was so many different things. It
was always changing, it was what everything was really all about. It
was twenty minutes, or a hundred years, or just this instant, or any
instant I wished would just last and last. But there was only one truth
about forever that really mattered and that was this: it was happening.
Right then, as I ran into the bright sunlight, and every moment
afterwards. Look, there. Now. Now. Now."
This book has A+ written all over it!
ha; this book was so good!
sarah dessen is one of the best authors ever!
wes & macy are the perfect couple, they are so meant to be together.
the cover of this book didnt tell me much, but the back sorta did.
man, i liked macy's best firned attitude. kristy, wasnt it? yeah, it was.
i didnt like her ex, smart boyfriend, jason, what a jerk! such a know-it-all, & a control freak.
its good that macy dumped him.
well....you should read this book. you'll find yourslef falling in love with wes yourself...!
I remember borrowing this book from the library in 8th grade and then leaving it in my locker and forgetting about it. One day I dug it out and decided to read it since I had nothing better to do. I read it and now The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen is one of my favourite books.
In the beginning of the book we learn about Macy and her father. The story of how her family was affected by this tragedy made my heart ache.
And then in came Wes and the rest of the Wishbone clan. They healed Macy by teaching her how to grieve, live her life again, and be happy. And I felt like they were teaching me too.
This book is a wonderfully written story about a teenage girl dealing with the tragic loss of her father and finding herself in the meantime. I love how Macy really broke out of her comfort zone to make new friends and begin a relationship with someone completely different from her previous boyfriend. Macy is easily relateable, and her growing chemistry with Wes caused me not to be able to put the book down. This is a great read that I highly recommend :)
I always loved Sarah Dessan's covers but I never really got the chance to actually read her books until I read The Truth About Forever. This book literally made me cry. I felt so connected to Macy, all the things she was going through, I could relate everything to my life. After I read this, I just had to go back to my favorite parts of the book and re-read it. It was that good!
