The Warrior's Heart is one of those books I consider a must read. If you decide to do nothing else once you've finished reading, it will at least make you think. Greitens draws on personal experiences to make readers think about choices and paths to take. Do you take the easy way or the choice of going into the unknown? While we all may not make these physical journeys around the world, we are all faced with problems and choices of our own right in our own communities.
There were several stories throughout this book that struck me. I appreciated the honesty of Greitens' writing. His experiences shed light on difficult and terrible situations throughout the world and his insight on how people feel are both inspiring and heartbreaking at the same time. Just as inspiring are Greitens' choices that he has made. The Warrior’s Heart shows how one person can make a difference. The path may be difficult but it can be done. Greitens could have turned this book into a boastful account of his life so far, but he doesn’t.
I really encourage you to read this book. Also, if you are an adult, I encourage you to read The Heart and the Fist which is the book that this book is based from. Share it with your friends, parents, and teachers. I hope reading this book encourages you in some way to get involved in serving your community. Use your heart, your mind, and your talents to make a difference.
